http://PROFILE OF THE NEW LEAD PASTOR AT EAST BAY CALVARY CHURCH The new Lead Pastor at East Bay Calvary Church will be an experienced pastor who is deeply in love with Jesus, practices personal accountability to leaders inside/outside the church, disciples protégés and has a capacity to grow the church to its fullest potential.FAMILY LIFE: The new Lead Pastor of East Bay Calvary Church will foster and model a Christ-honoring home, investing proactively in the life of his family. QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE: The new Lead Pastor of East Bay Calvary Church will possess Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university and, at a minimum, a Master of Divinity degree (M. Div) or its equivalent from an accredited seminary. He will have at least 10 years of ministry experience as a Lead Pastor and/or a minimum of 10-15 years as an Associate Pastor with preaching experience. A PRAYERFUL POSTURE: The new Lead Pastor will be a man of prayer and have a passionate heart toward God; pursue holiness and evidence God dependency in his personal, family and congregational responsibilities. A GIFTED COMMUNICATOR: The new Lead Pastor will have a strong theological and homiletical background to preach expository messages with real life application. He will be willing to address cultural and moral issues to which the Scriptures speak. He will be committed to the doctrinal statement, core values, mission, vision and philosophy of ministry of EBCC. The expectation is that he will devote two full days to sermon preparation. A SPIRIT-LED SHEPHERD: The new Lead Pastor will have a warm heart toward his family, staff, leadership and congregation. His personal warmth toward all will be a hallmark of his ministry as he builds a sense of hope with humility and grace in his interactions with others. A RELATIONAL TEAM BUILDER: The new Lead Pastor will have a growing EQ (Emotional Intelligence) and relate well to all staff, leaders and congregational members. He will foster collaborative relationships with staff and leadership, understanding the value they bring to the fulfillment of the core values, mission, vision and philosophy of ministry of the church. AN EQUIPPER/TRAINER: The new Lead Pastor will have a proven commitment to train, equip and nurture the staff and ministry leaders, providing on-going leadership development through training and equipping opportunities. A PROACTIVE SUPERVISOR: The new Lead Pastor will be a servant leader having the ability to lead, organize, manage, empower, and evaluate the pastoral, ministerial and support staffs of the church, with the discernment and ability to release control and oversight as the church grows and/or when appropriate. A PASSIONATE COMMUNITY LEADER: The new Lead Pastor will be a servant leader proactively leading he church in community efforts aimed at outreach and multiplication. He is open to network with other community church and civic leaders in presenting a united witness for Christ with a kingdom mindset. A VISIONARY CATALYST: The new Lead Pastor will bring a laser-like ministry focus to the church, challenging the Body to be people of faith and outward focus. He will engage the leadership in both short and long-range planning.

http://LEAD PASTOR MINISTRY DESCRIPTION GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Lead Pastor is to be the primary spiritual leader of the church having been called by God into full time service for the purpose of proclaiming God’s Word while shepherding and nurturing the local church body. He is the leading member of the Pastoral Staff called by the church congregation for an unspecified period of service. He is expected to lead and inspire team spirit among the staff through fellowship, encouragement, cooperation, prayer support and other appropriate ways, as he serves his Lord Jesus Christ and the church. COMPENSATION: His salary will be established by the Board of Elders and approved each year, including vacation, sick leave, insurance coverage and other benefits. PURPOSE: As the primary spiritual leader of the church, he is to guide the staff and congregation as they strive to fulfill East Bay Calvary Church’s statement of faith, core values, mission, vision and philosophy of ministry. This ministry is to be carried out in an atmosphere of love, cooperation and mutual accountability, leading to the accomplishment of personal and ministerial goals under the direction and enabling power of the Holy Spirit. OBJECTIVE: To be an effective pastor/teacher and shepherd for the church family while providing spiritual leadership for the congregation as they evangelize the lost and disciple the saved. I. SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS 1. A person of high character, well respected and stable; a maturing and growing Christ-follower with an exemplary personal, marital and family life. 2. At the minimum, a Master of Divinity or the equivalent in years of experience as determined by the Board of Elders. 3. Has a sound knowledge of Scripture and an ability to effectively communicate and apply Scriptural principles to individuals and families. 4. Is committed to teamwork with other pastoral staff members and ministries within the church. 5. Has the spiritual gifts of preaching/teaching, vision casting, leadership development and administration. 6. Agrees with the core values, mission, vision and philosophy of ministry statements of East Bay Calvary Church, its Statement of Faith, and Constitution. 7. Shall be ordained by a recognized evangelical denomination or affiliation of like-minded independent churches. II. ROLE: The Lead Pastor of East Bay Calvary Church shall function in the following manner under the leadership of the Holy Spirit. 1. A Servant, being a person of integrity and having the desire to excel for the glory of God. 2. A Spirit-led Shepherd, spending daily time in personal Bible Study and prayer for the leaders and congregation of East Bay Calvary Church. 3. A Communicator, effectively studying and communicating the Word of God through weekly preaching and teaching. 4. A Visionary, able to advance the church to a new level of effectiveness and outreach. 5. A Life-long Learner, keeping current with ministry and theological trends, reading theological and contemporary ministry books, ministry journals etc. 6. An Equipper/Leader, empowering the staff, leadership and congregation through personal interaction, group training and other venues of interactive Bible learning. 7. A Discipling Mentor, assisting the Pastoral, Ministry and Support staffs to be spiritually grounded and always looking for ways to help each other succeed. 8. A Motivator, providing initiative and perspective that encourages a unified team effort. 9. A Facilitator, actively promoting the smooth flow of information between staff, leadership, ministry teams and the congregation. 10. A Strategic Planner, facilitating the core values, mission, vision and philosophy of ministry by providing the appropriate structures to make it happen. 11. A Conflict Manager, being proactive to resolve conflicts and holding the staff, leadership and congregation accountable to the conflict of resolution statement they have affirmed. III. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Lead Pastor of East Bay Calvary Church shall carry out, direct and/or oversee the following tasks under the leadership of the Holy Spirit. 1. Fulfills preaching and teaching responsibilities, primarily for regular worship services but also where otherwise deemed appropriate. 2. In consultation with and approval by the Board of Elders, employs/dismisses, oversees and evaluates the work of the professional staff by supervising the Pastoral and Ministry staffs, holding them accountable to their job description and profile. 3. Exercises leadership gifts by casting a vision for present and future growth in collaboration with the Board of Elders, including strategic planning and allocation of resources. 4. Conducts on-going ministry training and leadership development with Board of Elders, Deacons and Ministry Teams. 5. Oversees, conducts and/or shares with the pastoral staff the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper. 6. Participates, when requested, in weddings, funerals, and infant dedications. 7. Ministers to individuals and families (crisis, illness, spiritual counsel) as time permits 8. Plans and leads weekly staff meetings and meets one on one with each pastor individually for prayer, consultation and vision casting. 9. Prepares for and plans prayer retreats with the Board of Elders and Pastoral Staff members. 10. Serves as a voting member on the Board of Elders, providing leadership and developing a strong ministering partnership. 11. Serves the Deacons by equipping them for service and ministry. 12. Serves as an ex-officio member of all ministry teams of the church. 13. Serves in community and ministry positions outside the local church with prior approval of the Board of Elders. IV. RELATIONSHIPS: The Lead Pastor of East Bay Calvary Church shall relate to and in some cases report to the following individuals and ministry teams. 1. Reporting and Evaluation: The Lead Pastor will be accountable to, supervised and evaluated by the Executive Management Team (i.e., corporate officers) of the Board of Elders. 2. In consultation with and approval by the Board of Elders, the Lead Pastor or his designated representative employs/dismisses all pastoral, ministry and support staff. 3. Supervisory Role: The Lead Pastor or his designate will supervise the Pastoral and Ministry staffs. 4. Coordination: The Lead Pastor will work closely with the Pastor of Worship & Music in the planning of the regular and/or special worship services. 5. The Lead Pastor will work closely with the Treasurer and Accounting Secretary to oversee the finances of the church. 6. The Lead Pastor or his designee will meet monthly with the Chairman of the Deacons Team, providing leadership training. 7. The Lead Pastor or his designee will meet with the Chairman of the Missions Team, providing resources and direction. 8. The Lead Pastor will meet weekly with the Board of Elder’s chairman for personal accountability and to keep informed of all staff, leadership, and congregational issues of the church. 9. The Lead Pastor will prepare an annual written report to the Congregation for the Annual Meeting in January of each calendar year.
