Eastpoint Community Church in Bear, Delaware is seeking a part-time Lead Pastor to provide spiritual leadership, preach biblically sound sermons, guide vision and strategy, care for the congregation, and equip the church for growth and outreach. The ideal candidate will model a Christ-centered life, inspire and develop ministry leaders, and work closely with the Church Management Team to fulfill the church's mission of guiding people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. This position could grow into a full-time position.

Job Description

Position Title: Lead Pastor Reports To: Church Directors (Management Team) Supervises: Church Staff, Ministry Leaders, and Pastoral Team Status: Part Time, Exempt

Purpose: The Lead Pastor of Eastpoint Community Church is responsible for providing spiritual, visionary, and organizational leadership to fulfill the church's mission: guiding people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. This role emphasizes preaching, teaching, discipleship, and equipping the church body for ministry, while fostering a culture of unity, growth, and outreach.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Spiritual Leadership:
  • Serve as the primary teaching pastor, delivering biblically sound, engaging sermons.
  • Lead the church in prayer, worship, and the sacraments, including baptism and communion.
  • Model a Christ-centered life, demonstrating spiritual maturity and integrity.
  1. Vision and Strategy:
  • Cast and articulate the church's vision in alignment with its purpose and values.
  • Collaborate with the Church Management Team to develop and implement strategic goals.
  • Ensure all ministries and programs align with the church's mission and strategy.
  1. Leadership and Staff Development:
  • Oversee and support the pastoral team, ministry leaders, and staff, fostering a healthy leadership culture.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and development opportunities for leaders and volunteers.
  • Recommend appointments to the Church Management Team, subject to a vote and approval by the Church Management Team.
  1. Pastoral Care:
  • Provide pastoral counseling, care, and support to individuals and families.
  • Officiate weddings, funerals, and other special services.
  • Promote authentic community through small groups, fellowship, and discipleship initiatives.
  1. Administrative Oversight:
  • Serve as President of the Church, moderating meetings and guiding organizational operations.
  • Partner with the Church Management Team and Church Directors in financial oversight, policy development, and governance.
  • Ensure compliance with church bylaws, policies, and legal requirements.

Qualifications:

  • A personal commitment to Jesus Christ, evidenced by a vibrant spiritual life.
  • Demonstrated theological depth and alignment with Eastpoint's Statement of Faith.
  • Bachelor's degree in theology, ministry, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • Proven leadership experience in pastoral ministry, with strong preaching and teaching gifts.
  • Ability to inspire, equip, and mobilize individuals for ministry and mission.
  • Strong interpersonal, administrative, and conflict-resolution skills.

Accountability: The Lead Pastor is accountable to the Church Management Team and Church Directors and subject to congregational affirmation in matters such as appointment and removal, as specified in the bylaws.
