Job Overview

The Associate Pastor will lead middle school, high school and college/young adult ministries. The ideal candidate will serve as a player/coach while developing the leadership and spiritual maturity of students and volunteers alike. Responsibilities include vision casting, team building, delegation, multiplying leaders, networking and preaching.

There is potential to apply and interview for the Lead Pastor role in the next two to three years.

Job Description

Ministry Responsibilities

• Recruit, train and mobilize three strong teams to lead middle school, high school and college/young adult ministry.
• Provide oversight, guidance, and support to the leaders of these three teams.
• Ensure efficient and effective functioning of all youth and young adult ministries.
• Create and implement strategies for discipleship that equip students and volunteers to grow in their faith and leadership roles.
• Plan and execute all youth and young adult activities (including camps, retreats and special events) while communicating clearly and creatively via social media and church communications.
• Provide pastoral care, including praying with students, parents, and church members during times of crisis or difficulty.
• Partner with parents.
• Deepen intergenerational connections through our intergenerational prayer initiative, mentoring and integrating students into other ministries.
• Ensure that the curriculum and teaching is Gospel centric and based on biblical principles.
• Maintain consistency in messaging, culture and updates to all three teams, especially with bi-vocational staff.
• Coach and mentor the youth and young adult's staff.
• Work cooperatively with church staff to support the overall mission and vision of the church. This includes participating in the weekly staff meeting, worship services and church-wide events.
• Preach in the main worship service four to six times per year.
• Participate in the weekly Preaching Collaboration Team.
• Lead the Outreach seven systems team.
• Engage with local (Together PDX youth workers), regional, and national youth ministry networks and events.
