About the Lead Pastor

The Lead Pastor at Faith Family Church (FFC) works in close partnership with the elder team to provide spiritual leadership, shepherd the congregation, and guide the church in fulfilling its mission to proclaim the Gospel and disciple believers. This role includes preaching, teaching, pastoral care, and collaborating with the elders on administration, decision-making, and vision casting. As the primary leader, teacher, and visionary of the church, the Lead Pastor oversees the spiritual health, growth, and vitality of the congregation across all ministries. Above all, he is called to serve as a servant leader and shepherd.

The Lead Pastor's responsibilities include:

Preaching and Teaching

  • Deliver Christ-centered, relevant, and creative sermons that promote spiritual growth.
  • Ensure all preaching and teaching align with FFC's doctrinal beliefs.
  • Lead Bible studies, discipleship classes, and other teaching environments as needed.

Pastoral Care

  • Provide biblical counseling, spiritual guidance, and visitation to the sick, elderly, and those in crisis.
  • Officiate weddings, funerals, baptisms, and other significant services.
  • Maintain a pastoral presence in the broader community when appropriate.

Elder Collaboration

  • Partner with the elder team to uphold FFC's mission and doctrinal integrity.
  • Contribute to elder meetings with spiritual, pastoral, and organizational insight.
  • Offer leadership and encouragement to fellow elders.
  • Help identify, mentor, and equip future church leaders.
  • Collaborate with elders to launch new ministries and church growth initiatives.

Church Leadership

• Guide the planning and execution of worship services, events, and ministry programs.

• Support and equip church staff, ministry leaders, and volunteers for effective service.

• Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.

• Demonstrate initiative, self-motivation, and a high level of professionalism.

• Uphold integrity, humility, and appropriate conduct in all ministry contexts.

Community Engagement

• Represent FFC in the local community through relationship-building and outreach.

• Inspire and equip the congregation for local missions, evangelism, and service projects.

Administration

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the church.

• Lead weekly staff meetings focused on prayer, planning, and communication.

• Conduct annual performance reviews and manage compensation discussions with elders.

• Direct the hiring process for all staff roles, with elder input.

• Ensure that every staff member and ministry leader has a current job description.

• Collaborate with the elder team on budget development and financial planning.

Desired Characteristics, Experience, and Education

• Evident call to ministry, supported by spiritual gifts that complement this calling.

• Consistent Christlike character in all relationships (e.g., respect, compassion, integrity, purity).

• Deep knowledge of Scripture and sound doctrine.

• Servant-hearted, approachable, and relational.

• Committed to prayer and able to disciple others in prayer ministry.

• Minimum of 3 years of full-time pastoral experience.

• Holds an earned degree from a Bible college or theological seminary.

• Actively pursues personal and professional growth.

Education and Experience

  • Seminary degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience.

Personal Characteristics and Qualifications

  • Strong biblical knowledge and ability to accurately and engagingly teach Scripture in both small groups and Sunday services.
  • Spirit-led discernment and sensitivity to the needs of the congregation.
  • Experience in discipling and mentoring individuals and leaders.
  • Ability to provide limited pastoral counseling.
  • Warm, welcoming, and personable demeanor—approachable to people of all ages.
  • Relationally focused—remembers names, connects authentically, and is visible and active in the local community.
  • Balances seriousness with a good sense of humor; knows how to laugh, including at oneself.
  • Humble and teachable, with a genuine love for people and a desire to grow spiritually and relationally.
  • Passion for teaching the practical application of biblical truth in everyday life.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Able to build and lead healthy teams; values delegation and shared leadership.
  • Displays integrity, honesty, empathy, and emotional maturity.
  • Passionate about his own family, the mission of the church, and reaching the lost.
  • Comfortable trying new ideas and thinking forward.
  • Willing to learn and appreciate biblical history and context.
  • Stable in personal, family, and spiritual life.
  • Demonstrates personal responsibility, including financial stewardship.
  • Compassionate toward the hurting and broken; not afraid to step outside comfort zones to serve.
