First Baptist Church Longview (Washington) is looking for a lead pastor that will lead the church in building strong relationships in the membership by using their strong leadership skills with a master's degree and five to ten years of experience.

This position is full time with an experienced staff to assist.

Job Description

First Baptist Church, of Longview, Washington, is seeking applicants for the lead pastor position. Some experience in the role of pastor is preferred.

Interested parties must be men of integrity, who seek the mind of Christ and the guidance of the Holy Spirit through personal Bible study and prayer.

As the leader of this congregation, the pastor is expected to guide the church body in developing a clear vision and plan for the fulfillment of the Great Commission. This includes working to train and inspire the membership to perform the ministries to which they are called. Effective preaching and leadership skills are necessary.

The lead pastor is expected to pursue the continuation of his personal and professional growth while guiding the staff and lay leaders in the various ministries of the church.

Additional expectations include the following:

• Be loving, friendly, and gracious in all church settings.
• Work diligently according to a work schedule shared with the church.
• Take regular scheduled days off so as not to neglect your family.
• Accurately preach the Bible as the inspired and inerrant Word of God to inspire, instruct, and equip the church for ministry.
• Mediate conflict to produce healthy relationships in the church.
• Delegate appropriate responsibilities to the staff and lay leaders.
• Hire additional staff as needed and practical within the church budget. (The annual budget is approved by the church body.)
• Evangelize through preaching and personal witness.
• Represent First Baptist in community and denominational activities.
• Participate in an annual job review and conduct annual job reviews of the staff.

The pastor will either perform the following functions or assign them to an appropriate staff member or lay leader:

• Perform baptisms, weddings, and funerals.
• Moderate business meetings.
• Oversee the teaching ministry of the church.
• Use current technology and social media in ministry and outreach.
