Job Overview
Leading Gospel Life Church in rooting all of life in the good news of Jesus. This will include taking the lead in preaching and teaching, casting the vision and mission of GLC, shepherding the people, and fostering an environment of leadership development.
Job Description
Three Distinctives of the Lead Pastor:
Propagation of Mission and Vision:
- Primary responsibility for overseeing the greater mission and vision of Gospel Life Church and casting this vision for leaders, member, and congregants
- Lead GLC in modeling personal evangelism
- Build ministry structures and recruit leaders to strengthen the body and bring growth to the people
Preaching and Teaching:
- Primarily responsible for the expository, Christ-centered preaching of the Word on Sunday mornings and other occasions (80% of messages)
- Create and manage the long range preaching calendar through research/study/preparation
- Equip and train elders to preach, review sermons, and offer feedback, and train young leaders in the gift of teaching
- Teaching in other contexts throughout the week
- Apply the gospel to stir people's affection for Christ in all of ministry: preaching, counseling, evangelism, and discipleship
Equipping Leaders and Pastoral Care:
- Responsible for leading our leaders, specifically the Elder Leadership Team and the deacons
- Foster an environment where leaders are recognized, discipled, developed, trained, and able to use their ministry gifts
- Be the first point of care for shepherding needs (though this will be shared with the elders and deacons)
- Lead, support, encourage, and equip the staff of the church
- Equip the members of GLC for the work of ministry, discipleship, evangelism, and applying the gospel to their everyday lives
Other Shared Responsibilities:
- Pastoral care
- Prayer
- Counseling
- Recruiting
- Developing ministry partnerships in line with Gospel Life Church's mission and vision.
Qualifications:
- A believer who is growing in the grace and knowledge of Christ
- Meets the qualifications for Lead Pastor and Elder according to the GLC Bylaws
- At least two years of experience pastoring in the context of the local church
- Holds a graduate degree in theology/ministry/missions. MDIV preferred
- Can preach the Word of God effectively to God's people
- Able to help create ministry teams from the ground-up (entrepreneurial)
- A responsible self-starter who is able to manage himself and his schedule well
- Comfortable leading people from all walks of life and able to shepherd and invest in people of all ages and stages of faith
Accountability and Reporting Relationships:
- The Lead Pastor will be immediately responsible to the Elder Team. He must additionally hold to the EFCA Statement of Faith as described in the GLC Bylaws. A job performance evaluation will occur annually by the elders.
Terms and Duration of Employment:
- This is a full-time position. The Lead Pastor will serve indefinitely.

- Total compensation is 90-100K per year

Vacation, Holidays, and Sabbatical:
- 20 weekdays and 5 Sundays off per calendar year
- Paid holidays
