Job Overview

New River Worship Center is a vibrant, growing, and diverse church community.  We are seeking a Senior Pastor who is dedicated, and passionate to join our team and lead our congregation into spiritual growth and service.  The ideal candidate needs to possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities to be able to communicate the gospel to all people of different educational levels, and must have a deep commitment to ministry.

Senior Pastor Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide spiritual leadership and pastoral care to the congregation while being able to foster a culture filled with faith, love, and service to each other and our community.
  2. Develop and deliver Biblically based weekly sermons following the leading of the Holy Spirit, as well as on special occasions and events.
  3. Under the direction of the Holy Spirit plan and lead service, collaborating with the worship team, with church leaders, so the services are meaningful and spiritually enriching.
  4. Provide pastoral care to the members of NRWC including visiting the sick, shut-ins, counseling those in need, and offering support during times of a crisis.
  5. Encourage and facilitate spiritual growth and discipleship through development and implementation of small group ministries, Bible studies, and other educational programs.
  6. Must be able to work well with Church leadership and staff to establish and execute a vision that would promote church growth and leadership development.
  7. Must be able to build and engage relationships with the local community by participating in outreach and missions. Collaborate with other organizations to address community needs.
  8. Collaborate with the church leadership in the oversight of the administration and management of church operations that include budgeting, financial planning, and personnel management in the church office.
  9. Must be able to oversee, mentor and support church staff and volunteers, while having a positive, collaborative work environment with leadership development.

Job Description

Key Qualifications:

  1. Must have a deep commitment to our Lord, and Savior Jesus Christ and the spreading of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
  2. Must have a combination of 5 years’ experience with a minimum of two years of experience as lead pastor, senior pastor, or other similar ministry experience.
  3. Require showing good standing with a recognized Christian denomination with an ordination level.
  4. Must have pastoral experience in a similar role and have a track record that is proven to show effective leadership, ministry development, and community outreach.
  5. Community skills to be exceptional with ability to connect with a diverse congregation.
  6. Strong leadership skills and passion to empower others while fostering a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  7. A deep commitment and understanding of the Bible, Christian theology and full teachings of Christ in the Bible.
  8. Must have strong moral character in word and deed to be a good spiritual example to the congregation and the community.

Must understand and follow the by-laws of NRWC and be able to communicate effectively with Church Leadership. Be able to listen as well as communicate and remain teachable. There must be a willingness to reach out to a lost and dying world by showing the love of God to those in need and hurting.  Also, realizing this is a team effort to do the work of God in the church, the community, and the world.
