Position Overview

North Gwinnett Church is seeking a passionate and Spirit-led Lead Pastor to shepherd our congregation into a new season of growth and renewal. This role is ideal for a pioneering leader who senses a strong calling to cultivate a thriving, Christ-centered church community. While this role begins as part-time, our prayerful vision is that the pastor will lead the church toward healthy, sustainable growth that will enable a full-time pastoral role supported by the congregation.

We are looking for a leader of conviction, creativity, and compassion—someone who believes deeply in the transformative power of God's Word, preaches with boldness and clarity, and has a contagious heart for evangelism and discipleship.

Key Responsibilities

Spiritual Leadership & Preaching

• Provide consistent, compelling, Bible-based preaching that encourages, challenges, and equips the congregation.
• Develop sermon series rooted in Scripture that engage both believers and seekers.
• Lead weekly worship services with clarity of purpose and theological integrity.
• Cultivate a Spirit-led atmosphere of worship, prayer, and gospel proclamation

Vision Casting & Church Growth

• Lead with a strategic mindset to grow the church in attendance, engagement, and spiritual maturity.
• Create a compelling vision for the future of the church that reflects the Great Commission and Great Commandment.
• Establish and nurture a culture of invitation, hospitality, and outreach to the surrounding community.

Evangelism & Discipleship

• Equip members to live on mission in their workplaces, schools, and neighborhoods.
• Develop pathways for discipleship and spiritual formation, including small groups, new believer follow-up, and leadership training.
• Build relationships with the unchurched and the de-churched, and create welcoming onramps for engagement.

Pastoral Care & Shepherding

• Provide pastoral support through counseling, hospital visits, weddings, funerals, and personal discipleship.
• Foster a sense of family within the congregation and ensure that individuals feel seen, known, and loved.
• Lead by example in humility, integrity, and faithfulness.

Leadership Development & Team Building

• Recruit, develop, and empower volunteers and future leaders within the church body.
• Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors and future staff or elders to shape the church's mission and values.
• Embrace a shared leadership model that invites others into meaningful participation.

Qualifications

Spiritual & Theological

• A mature, growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a clear calling to pastoral ministry.
• Strong alignment with evangelical Christian theology and the core beliefs of North Gwinnett Church.
• Committed to the authority of Scripture and the power of the Gospel to transform lives.

Ministry Experience

• Previous experience preaching, leading, or planting in a local church setting preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to inspire and lead others through vision, Scripture, and personal example.

Personal Attributes

• Energetic and engaging communication style, both from the pulpit and in personal interactions.
• Relationally gifted with a heart for people of all ages and backgrounds.
• Spiritually discerning, emotionally intelligent, and highly dependable.
• Willingness to serve bi-vocationally in the initial season with a vision for long-term, full-time ministry.
