The Church at Severn Run in Severn, Maryland is seeking a new Lead Pastor to lead our congregation into its next season of spiritual growth and community impact.

The Church at Severn Run is a growing, Kingdom-seeking, racially diverse community with a Southern Baptist past. We focus on doing wholistic missions in the broken world around us. Love does more than talk! Salvation matters and the opportunities for growth are endless (John 4:35). We focus on three things: loving well, living Jesus, and believing big. And all of this for God's glory, not ours.

Position Qualifications:

🔹 Spiritual Qualifications

• Genuine and mature relationship with Jesus Christ.

• Meets biblical qualifications for pastoral leadership (e.g., 1 Timothy 3:1–7, Titus 1:6–9).

• Called by God to pastoral ministry and preaching.

• Consistent spiritual disciplines: prayer, study of Scripture, accountability.

• Commitment to the mission, vision, and theological convictions of the church.

🔹 Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in ministry, theology, biblical studies, or a related field (required).

• Master of Divinity (M.Div.) or equivalent seminary degree (often required or strongly preferred).

• Ongoing theological education or leadership development (desired).

🔹 Professional Qualifications

• Proven experience in pastoral leadership (often 5+ years, including teaching and shepherding roles).

• Strong preaching and teaching ability with solid biblical exegesis.

• Experience overseeing church staff, ministries, and budgets.

• Leadership in vision casting, strategic planning, and church growth.

• Ability to mentor and disciple others, especially leaders and staff.

• Above reproach in character, demonstrating integrity, humility, and compassion.

• Strong interpersonal skills: able to relate well to a diverse congregation.

• Excellent communicator—both from the pulpit and in personal interactions.

• Emotionally mature, approachable, and committed to resolving conflict biblically.

• Willingness to lead by example in generosity, service, and personal holiness.
