- Master of Divinity degree or equivalent theological education.
- Strong preaching and teaching abilities.
- Proven experience in pastoral leadership and ministry.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- A passion for spiritual growth and community engagement.
- A commitment to the mission and vision of West Hills Community Church.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Study the Bible for sermon preparation.
- Moderate business meetings.
- Work with the staff to schedule special services and events.
- Conduct weddings, funerals, and other pastoral rites.
- Assist with oversight of discipleship classes and small groups.
- Speak at various functions as requested.
- Attend trustee meetings and serve on committees.
- Be on call 24/7 to provide emergency pastoral care.
- Read books and attend seminars for personal and professional development.
- Lead the mission committee and participate in mission trips.
About the Church:
West Hills Community Church is a relatively new church. Founded in the last ten years, WHCC has experienced rapid growth requiring the building of a new facility. The church has a great relationship with the surrounding community and school districts.
About the Area (Johnstown, PA):
There is a wide variety of things to do in the area – lots of outdoor activities including hiking, kayaking, fishing, hunting, & skiing. We hold many local festivals offering great music & delicious ethnic foods. The local education systems are top notch including many colleges within an hour of our church. Pittsburgh & State College are just a 90 minutes' drive if one wants to attend professional/college sports or larger concert venues. The cost of living makes the area a great place to buy a house and raise a family.

The Big Picture
West Hills Community Church (westhcc.com)(400-500) is searching for a Lead Pastor who will serve as the spiritual leader, providing vision, guidance, and pastoral care to the congregation. This role will involve preaching, teaching, overseeing ministries, and fostering a welcoming, Christ-centered community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Spiritual Leadership: Provide spiritual guidance, ensuring the congregation remains grounded in the teachings of Jesus Christ. (I Peter 5:1-4)
- Preaching and Teaching: Deliver inspiring and impactful sermons, and teach the Word of God effectively. (II Timothy 4:2)
- Pastoral Care: Offer pre-marital pastoral counseling, support to shut-ins, provides referral for individual needs and counseling. (James 1:27)
- Ministry Oversight: Oversee various church ministries, including worship, youth, children's, adult education, outreach, and missions.
- Staff Leadership: Lead and mentor the church staff, providing direction and support.
- Community Engagement: Represent the church in the community, building relationships and fostering partnerships.
- Administrative Duties: Manage the administrative aspects of the church, including budgeting, planning, and strategic development.
