Overview

LifeWise high school teachers will demonstrate in-depth Bible knowledge and outstanding teaching abilities for students in grades 9-12. The ideal candidate is an active church member with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who is caring, committed and proficient in teaching.

Job Description

✦ Complete Initial and Ongoing Training

✧ Complete the LifeWise Teacher Certification Course prior to teaching ✧ Participate in the annual LifeWise Summit each year ✧ Attend at least one Teachers' Lounge and one LifeWise Meet-Up per year ✧ Stay up to date on training and updates by regularly checking LifeWise email

✦ Teach LifeWise Classes

✧ Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans using only the LifeWise curriculum ✧ Invest in building relationships with students and praying for them regularly ✧ Create and maintain a safe, organized and stimulating classroom environment through various teaching techniques and discipline that is redemptive in nature ✧ Prioritize student engagement

✦ Maintain Records

✧ Keep accurate student attendance records ✧ Distribute accurate and timely assessments to meet secondary education requirements ✧ Maintain accurate class rosters including health concerns, special needs of students and photo permission as noted on parent permission slips ✧ Prepare adequate lesson plans, information and materials for a substitute teacher

✦ Maintain the Classroom

✧ Establish a culture that fosters academic pursuits and a love of learning as a means to promote spiritual growth ✧ Maintain a clean, attractive, age appropriate and well-ordered classroom ✧ Know the procedures for handling emergency situations ✧ Purchase classroom supplies as needed using the funds provided by the program director

✦ Communicate

✧ Act as a LifeWise ambassador within the community ✧ Attend events as available or requested by the program director ✧ Maintain ongoing dialogue with school personnel to stay apprised of class schedule changes and ensure student well-being ✧ Build relationships with volunteers and keep them apprised of schedule changes ✧ Submit regular updates, stories and photos to the program director

✧ Promote and communicate LifeWise's religious mission in all duties and interactions, ensuring alignment with the organization's core values and beliefs

Position Qualifications:

Qualifications and Experience

✦ Bachelor's degree (required) ✦ Minimum of two years of classroom teaching experience in either a school or church setting ✦ A mature personal Christian faith in agreement with the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith ✦ Active participation in and commitment to a local church whose doctrine aligns with the "What We Believe" section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith
