Summary of Duties

The Minister/Director of Students is responsible for all aspects of ensuring the spiritual growth and development of middle school and high school students (grades 7-12). This would align with the overall mission of Ridgecrest Baptist Church by developing and promoting a comprehensive student program designed to reach the unchurched, as well as challenging students to grow in their relationship with Christ. The ideal candidate will work well with the existing ministry team and will connect well with students and their parents.

Specific Duties

• Plan, coordinate, and conduct programs to effectively minister to students in order to create passionate disciples for Christ.
• Develop and coordinate Bible studies on Wednesday Night and Sunday Morning Small Groups for students.
• Lead programs where students can utilize their talents/gifts in order to minister to others.
• Plan, oversee and attend camps and mission trips with students that will bring forth spiritual growth. Offer service opportunities throughout the year to involve students in missions and community service in coordination with the church’s Faith missions programs.
• Direct the recruitment, training, and development of volunteers and teachers in the student ministry.
• Attend student after-school extracurricular activities in order to promote the student ministry and foster relationships with students and parents when possible.
• Develop a personal growth program so as to be spiritually alert and constantly up-to-date in the best Christian student methods available.
• Integrate the students to the overall ministries of the church and the church body to the needs of its students.
• Provide adequate supervision and safety of all students during church sponsored activities.
• Meet with parents and volunteers regularly to communicate needs and address parental concerns.
• Coordinate budget preparation and administer the approved budget for all assigned areas.
• Assist standing and/or special committees as assigned.
• Attend regular staff meetings as available.
• Works cooperatively with all members of the church staff.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the pastor.

Qualifications

• Must have had a personal salvation experience through Jesus Christ and be able to share their personal testimony.
• Feel called by God to work with students.
• Agree with the biblical doctrine as outlined in the Baptist Faith & Message 2000.
• Studies in religious ministries/biblical studies desired.
• Maintain a vital and growing personal walk with the Lord through committed Bible Study, prayer, and accountability.
• Utilize excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Self-motivated, strong leader, good work ethic, and a good steward of time.
