Minister Internship Job Description (实习传道职责) Adopted: July 8, 2024

Overview: The Minister Internship at the New Orleans Chinese Baptist Church (NOCBC) is a part-time position, renewable on a semiannual basis. The intern is responsible for providing leadership to reach and evangelize Chinese people in the Northshore area of New Orleans, including areas such as Covington and Slidell. This role aligns with the vision and mission of the NOCBC.

Main Responsibilities:

• Leading weekly fellowships and Sunday School
• Coordinating ministry efforts with fellow coworkers
• Building and maintaining relationships with the Chinese community in Northshore
• Addressing both spiritual needs and assisting with physical needs
• Long-term goal includes church planting in these new fields

Position Details:

Ministry Target: Chinese People in Northshore of New Orleans Accountable To: Senior Pastor Minimum Maturity Level: Solid, mature Christian

Education/Faith Requirements:

• Theological Master's Degree from an accredited seminary recognized by the American Theological Society (current senior seminary students accepted)
• Fully accept Southern Baptist Convention faith declaration
• Spiritual Gifts: Evangelism, Caring, Future Planning

Talents/Abilities:

• Proficiency in English and Mandarin Chinese
• Experience in teaching
• Special calling to lead in a culturally and ethnically diverse congregation
• Organizational skills
• Some training in counseling is a plus

• Dependable, discreet, friendly, compassionate

Anticipated Time Commitments:

• Planning and Conducting Fellowships: 20 hours a weekMain Focus: Covington & Slidell Fellowships
• Short-Term Discipleship for future coworkers
• Caring & Visitation
• Teaching ‘Sunday' School: 4-8 hours a weekAttend worship at the NOCBC or associated churches in Northshore
• Prepare and teach Sunday School class
• Staff Meetings: 2 hours per month
• Meet with the Senior Pastor

Additional Responsibilities & Duties:

• Be involved in outreach, visitation, counseling, and caring
• Participate in planning and conducting fellowships
• Provide biblical counseling regarding spiritual matters and refer to professional counselors when necessary
• Assist in planning special events such as retreats
• Keep the Senior Pastor informed about program activities
• Review and evaluate all materials used in the fellowships
• Plan and coordinate special events that support various levels of spiritual maturity
• Develop collaborative relationships with other Northshore churches
• Adhere to NOCBC interpersonal etiquette guidelines
• Pray for the Senior Pastor, deacon board, fellow coworkers, and the church
