Minister of Discipleship and Groups
- Primary Objectives
- To provide leadership, vision, and direction to the discipleship ministries of Calvary Baptist Church in alignment with the church's overall mission and vision.
- Lead and develop the Small Groups ministry at CalvaryOversee the church's Assimilation process for connecting new people
- Develop and implement discipleship strategies
- Small Groups
- Recruit, train, and develop small group leaders who will facilitate biblical community
- Establish a clear leadership pipeline for developing future small group leaders
- Create and implement a strategy for launching new groups and maintaining healthy existing groups
- Develop curriculum resources and provide ongoing support for group leaders
- Build and maintain a comprehensive small group database using church management software
- Regularly evaluate group effectiveness and implement improvements as needed
- Assimilation
- Create and oversee a clear process for helping newcomers connect to the church body
- Develop strategies to move people from first-time guests to fully engaged members
- Coordinate with ministry leaders to help people discover and use their spiritual gifts in serving
- Implement systems to track individual spiritual growth and church engagement
- Work with church staff to ensure consistent communication about connection opportunities
- Create and oversee the membership process, including new member classes
- Serve alongside the Senior Pastor in the hospitality suite to meet and connect with guests
- Ensure all first-time guests receive appropriate follow-up communication
- Oversee the First Time Guest Experience coordinator
- General Ministerial Duties
- Participate in hospital visitation, as requested, and on-call weekends on a rotating basis
- Provide counseling as needed within the scope of expertise
- Assist in conducting weddings, funerals, and baptisms as assigned
- Attend and participate in all staff meetings and retreats
- Other relevant duties that may be assigned that impact this position
- Essential Traits & Qualifications
- A deep and growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to servant leadership
- Proven leadership experience within a local church, particularly in small group ministry
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to recruit, equip, and develop volunteer teams effectively
- Experience in developing and implementing discipleship strategies
- Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Theological alignment with Calvary Baptist Church's statement of faith
- Bachelor's degree required; seminary degree preferred
- Minimum of 3-5 years experience in church ministry leadership
