Ministry Assistant:

We’re looking for a team player who can communicate clearly to join our Ministry Strategies Group as a full-time non-exempt Ministry Assistant. On Mission Together, to provide NC Baptist ministries, staff and churches with excellent financial support in a manner that honors Christ.

As the Ministry Assistant, you would be handling and assisting assigned strategist, supporting events, sending monies and deposits to Operations, and maintaining contractors and contact lists.

Requirements and Responsibilities

Requirements:

  • High school diploma with appropriate computer training is required.
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience is desired.

Highlighted Responsibilities:

  • Assist strategists with scheduling meetings and travel arrangements as needed.
  • Handling correspondence, preparing materials for production and distribution, processing pre-registration, attending the conference to coordinate registration when needed and forwarding monies received to Operations for deposit and preparing bills to send to participants.
  • Process design needs for strategists.

Paid Time Off:

  • While getting the primary holidays off (8 total), the convention goes beyond this by offering an extra day after Thanksgiving and a full week off for Christmas, which is not counted against your vacation leave.

Christmas Bonus:

  • There may be a chance that some or all employees may be presented with an amount determined by the discretion of the Executive Committee.

Paid Parental Leave:

  • Eligible employee’s may receive up to two (2) weeks of paid parental leave following the birth of a child or placement of a child (adoption or foster).
  • Special Short Term Disability is eligible for up to six (6) weeks of paid short-term disability leave at the rate of 100% of the employee’s salary.
  • These benefits provide the employee with up to eight (8) weeks of fully paid leave to care for the birth of a child.

Basic Responsibilities:

 

Assist the Ministry Strategies Group by performing office functions of the group, and complete responsibilities as needed by the group. Support the goals and mission of the BSCNC and the Ministry Strategies Group.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

 

  1. Demonstrate professionalism and proficiency in responding to phone calls and guests who visit the Ministry Strategies Group.
  2. Handle all digital and material communication and organization for the assigned strategists as needed.  Keep up-to-date files.
  3. Assist strategists with scheduling meetings and travel arrangements as needed.
  4. Process design needs for strategists with marketing and communications according to BSCNC policies.
  5. Respond to requests for information, materials and return phone calls in a prompt and thorough manner.  Maintain a copy of current calendars for assigned strategists
  6. Support the implementation of Ministry Strategies Group conferences and events.  These responsibilities include handling correspondence, preparing materials for production and distribution, processing pre-registration, attending the conference to coordinate registration when needed and forwarding monies received to Operations for deposit and preparing bills to send to participants.
  7. Coordinate and work with the other Ministry Assistants in the group to keep the office running smoothly.
  8. Maintain up-to-date personnel files, including vacation schedules, monthly mileage logs, monthly time cards, monthly calendars, and monthly expense reports for assigned strategists and contracted employees.
  9. Maintain an up-to-date contact list for assigned specialites throughout the state for the purpose of sharing information and correspondence.
  10. Perform and fulfill other tasks and assignments as requested.

  7. Must be proficient with both Mac and Windows computer systems as well as the following programs: Google Drive applications like Doc, Sheets, and Forms; Excel; Word; Presentation software like PowerPoint, ProPresenter, and Keynote; Social Media like Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
  8. Must have skills in budgeting process, accounting procedures and bookkeeping.
  9. Must demonstrate astute attention to detail and a desire for excellence in all work-related efforts.
  10. Must demonstrate an ability to take responsibility for making decisions.
  11. Must demonstrate adaptability and an ability to anticipate and maneuver with changing circumstances.
  12. Must be committed to NC Baptists, and show an ability to relate to the full diversity of Baptists affiliated with BSCNC.

 

Other Attributes/Responsibilities:

 

  1. Budget Responsibilities: Assist strategists with monthly budget reports.  Manage and monitor the monthly budget report – receiving, reviewing and filing.
  2. Education Requirement: A high school diploma with appropriate computer training is required.  A two-year college degree in a business related field is preferred.
  3. Work Experience: At least 2 years of relevant work experience is desired.

Range of Motion Criteria for Job Descriptions

 

  1. Be able to sit at a desk for extended periods of time to use a computer and/or other equipment.  Be able to move one’s chair back and forth while sitting in it.
  2. Be able to move to a copier/fax to copy and send materials.
  3. Be able to communicate effectively.
  4. Be able to stand, stoop, bend knees and arms, reach for various items, lift up to 15 pounds easily, open and close file and desk drawers and be able to climb/descend stairs or operate elevator to get to other places of work.  Be able to pack and lift boxes of materials needed for conferences.
  5. Be able to walk in and out of buildings or use items of personal equipment such as manual or motorized wheelchair to work and/or to evacuate places of work safely during an emergency.
  6. Be able to move items into/out of storage areas with appropriate help when necessary.
  7. Must be able to understand and follow instructions.  Must be able to read and understand safety signs and have good judgment skills.
  8. Be able to operate a vehicle safely for business travel, as required, whether in BSCNC fleet car or personal vehicle or travel by commercial transportation to and from BSCNC-related events at which attendance is required. Be able to fix a flat, lift equipment in and out of vehicles, safely check battery cables, safely fill the vehicle or equipment with fuels or know when to get someone to help with these tasks.
