Ministry Assistant

Job Overview

The Ministry Assistant is to serve Providence Baptist Church by providing administrative and ministry related support to the staff. These duties include but are not limited to office management, church calendar and events, church communication and correspondence, database maintenance, supply purchasing, staff calendar coordination, and phone and office reception.

Note: This Ministry Assistant could be a full time or part time position. Depending on the successful candidate, a full time position could also be a combined role as Ministry Assistant and Director of Children's Ministry.

Job Description

General: The Ministry Assistant is to serve Providence Baptist Church by providing administrative and ministry related support to the staff. These duties include but are not limited to office management, church calendar and events, church communication and correspondence, database maintenance, supply purchasing, staff calendar coordination, and phone and office reception.

Skills Needed 1. Administrative skills of planning, organizing, and multi-tasking skills, while still giving attention to details. 2. Communication skills for correspondence, newsletters, bulletins, and other forms of communication. 3. Organizational and management skills to coordinate multiple calendars, ensure database accuracy, as well as vendor/supply coordination. 4. Hospitality skills to make the office environment warm, welcoming, and clutter free. 5. Relational skills to engage and encourage people. 6. Team skills to work with the church leadership, staff, ministry teams, and members. 7. Learning skills eager to grow personally and professionally.

8. Graphic skills are a bonus. Responsibilities 1. Implement the vision, philosophy, and strategy as set by the elders, and church staff. 2. Assume receptionist duties, greet public and refer them to appropriate staff members, answer phone, route calls, and take messages. 3. Preparation and disbursement of bulletins, newsletters, and other matters of information (print, email, social media, etc.). 4. Manage multiple calendars (staff, facilities, ministries, events). 5. Cooperate in the maintenance and/or modification of church administration/ database systems. 6. Order church and office supplies and monitor inventory. 7. Not responsible for financial book-keeping, but assist with basic functions like reimbursement requests, expense forms, check printing, event payments, etc. 8. Communicate with volunteers in various ministry areas. 9. Other duties as assigned. 10. Serve under the direction and accountability of the elders. Report directly to the Lead Pastor.
