International Friendships, Inc. (IFI) is a Gospel-based ministry.

The mission of IFI is to extend life-changing love and friendship to international college students out of reverence for Jesus.

Our vision is to extend God's love globally in partnership with disciples who make disciples.

We do this by offering services, such as airport pickups, holiday hosting, temporary housing, conversation partnerships, and social events and trips in partnership with the local Church.

IFI is a national and becoming a global ministry.

The ministry leader will reside near or in Philadelphia. They will launch and grow an international student ministry in partnership with the local Church.

Job Description

Overview of the Philadelphia Area and Ministry Opportunity:

Philadelphia is a very important city in the United States and served as the first capital and where the Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776. Not only is it the home of the Liberty Bell, Constitution Hall and the "Rocky Steps", it is also full of world class universities, such as the University of Pennsylvania, Drexel and Temple. There are more than 15,000 international students in the Philadelphia area, which makes it a very strategic location for international student ministry.

The Philadelphia Ministry Leader will:

  • Launch a ministry location by building relationships with university staff, establishing partnerships with churches, mobilizing volunteers, and hosting Bible discussions and holiday and cultural events
  • Mentor at least one international student and share the love of Jesus on campus
  • Register IFI as a recognized student organization, maintain that registration, and maintain a good relationship with other campus international organizations
  • Develop and maintain financial and prayer partnerships for the budgeted needs of the role by sharing the vision of the ministry (known as building a support team)

Expected work schedule for the Philadelphia Ministry Leader:

  • Full- or part-time, flexible schedule
  • Occasional evenings and/or weekends for specific ministry needs
  • Annual Conferences such as the IFI Staff Retreat

Pay structure for the Philadelphia Ministry Leader:

  • Requires the development of a ministry partner team that supplies the necessary prayer and financial support to cover salary, benefits, and ministry expenses
  • Training provided to develop a team of ministry partners
  • The pay range is between $25,709 and $80,000 after the period of support development, based on experience and other factors

Qualifications Needed for Philadelphia Ministry Leader, including Spiritual Characteristics

  • Adherence to IFI's statement of faith, core values, and policies
  • Faithful in sharing the faith and hospitality to international students as well as mentoring believers to do the same
  • Well organized, takes initiative, able to work independently or collaboratively
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Proficient with technology necessary to the ministry, including Microsoft Office and Google applications, and willing to learn new applications as needed
  • Willing to work alongside the National ministry

Education/Experience for the Philadelphia Ministry Leader

  • Demonstrated experience mobilizing, training, and ministering to people required
  • Bachelor degree
  • Experience in cross-cultural contexts preferred
