Job Overview

Purpose

The central purposes of this 12-month residency are to provide future Pastors, Missionaries, Worship Leaders, and Ministry Directors with a foundation for their future vocation. The goal is to provide practical experience and learning, and to be loved and mentored in a church community.

Expectations

  1. Residents will receive housing and a monthly stipend for living expenses as they serve 30 hours a week in ministry as a staff member at Cheshire Baptist Church. (See full job description for more info).
  2. Residents will participate in educational pipeline which will involve reading, discussion, and journaling on relevant ministry topics and spiritual formation.
  3. Residents will be involved in the life of the church community and contributing to the mission and vision of Cheshire Baptist Church.

Outcome

  1. Develop rhythms of grace for personal growth and ministry.
  2. Gain both a theological and practical understanding of leading and serving.
  3. Growth in spiritual maturity and calling as a follower of Christ.
  4. Understanding of calling as a follower of Christ.

Job Description

Position Summary

The Ministry Resident will play a supporting role in the ministry of Cheshire Baptist Church as they are equipped for vocational ministry. They will have a supporting role in the development of a college age ministry (18-22). A supporting role in fostering a vibrant and invitational atmosphere within our Student Ministry (ages 11-18). And a vital role in the support of the Children's Ministry (ages 0-10).

Job Responsibilities

  • Help develop a ministry strategy for reaching and connecting with local students (6th-12thGrade).
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, parachurch leaders, local teachers, coaches, and administrators to create a supportive and welcoming environment for students.
  • Lead in the development and delivery of compelling and relevant teachings during Wednesday night gathering for student and children ministry.
  • Help in the planning and execution of student ministry activities & events.
  • Assist in the counseling of students in their Christian walk.
  • Assist in the logistics of children's ministry where needed.
  • Assist in recruiting and equipping volunteers,
  • Active involvement in the life of CBC, including staff meetings and events.
  • Be equipped for ministry through Resident Pipeline.
  • Assist in all areas of ministry as needed

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Agree with Cheshire Baptist Church Statement of faith
  • High school diploma required
  • 0-2 years' experience working with or volunteering with students
  • 0-2 years' experience in leading, shepherding, and equipping volunteers
  • Proficient in administration, communication, and event planning and execution
  • Ability to work within the context of a team
  • Flexible, humble, and adaptable
