JOB DESCRIPTION: MINISTRY RESIDENT

REPORTS PRIMARILY TO: Senior Pastor

PRINCIPAL FUNCTION

The Ministry Resident is designed to help someone determine a calling towards ministry and to provide opportunities to discover and use their gifts while experiencing both theological and practical training.

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. WORSHIP

To help lead our people glorify God through the elements of corporate worship.

  1. Will use their musical gifts in leading worship on Sunday mornings.
  2. Will coordinate and work with the worship staff to help the members of the band use their gifts in worship.
  3. Will assist in song selection process for worship.
  4. Will have working knowledge of sound board and equipment.
  5. Will help coordinate schedule for band members and communicate with them.
  6. Will be available to help lead worship at other events at the church.
  7. Will participate in weekly band rehearsals.
  1. PRACTICAL MINISTRY TRAINING

To be exposed to the many different elements of ministry in a church setting.

  1. Will attend weekly staff meetings.
  2. Will help with liturgy on a Sunday morning.
  3. Will help lead a Community Group.
  4. Will help teach during the Equip Hour and potentially even preach on a Sunday morning.
  5. Will participate in the weekly pastors meeting.
  6. Will occasionally attend Session meetings and Deacon meetings.
  7. Will occasionally help with Children's Ministry and Youth Ministry.
  8. Will receive specific ministry training from Senior Pastor and rest of the staff.
  1. THEOLOGICAL TRAINING

To grow in their theological knowledge by attaining a Masters of Divinity degree

  1. Will attend classes at Christ Our Redeemer Seminary.
  2. Will put that knowledge directly into ministry at the church.

SKILLS NEEDED:

  • Proficient in playing rhythm guitar and/or piano while singing
  • Understand basic music theory (keys, tempo, chords, harmonies, etc.)
  • Ability and desire to lead other singers and musicians
  • Desire to lead people in worship
  • Familiarity with traditional hymns and modern worship music

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Affirm the EPC Essentials of the Faith
  • Church membership at FPO

COMPENSATION

  • Salary- $35,000/year, Benefits– $500/month stipend
  • Seminary
    • Providing all costs for Christ our Redeemer Seminary MDiv Degree- $7,000/year https://www.christourredeemer.org
    • Providing the same yearly amount towards another approved Reformed Residential Seminary Degree Program

PERSONAL CONDUCT:

The Ministry Resident is expected to grow in his or her spiritual walk with Christ, his commitment to the Body of Believers, and in his burden for those who are lost through:

  1. Daily devotional time
  2. Maintenance of character consistent with Biblical standards for those in leadership
  3. Attendance at all church-wide functions
  4. Attendance at age-appropriate ministry functions not in conflict with ministry schedule
