Job Overview

The Music Director is a key leadership position within the Worship Arts department at the Troy campus, primarily responsible for directing and enhancing the musical aspects of Sunday services and special events. Reporting to the Worship Arts Pastor, the Music Director conducts rehearsals, serves as primary Music Director live on stage, and ensures musical quality and integration with other service elements. This role involves significant coordination in managing musical resources, overseeing purchasing and care of musical software and equipment, and recruiting, developing, and mentoring volunteer musicians. The Music Director's expertise in music direction, coupled with strong organizational and interpersonal skills, plays a pivotal role in shaping the worship experience, making it both spiritually impactful and professionally executed.

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

• Serves as the live Music Director for Sunday services and special events.
• Conducts regular rehearsals for band, vocal, choir, and orchestra teams under the guidance of the Worship Arts Pastor
• Acts as the primary communicator between the on-stage team and the service producer during live services and spontaneous moments.
• Builds Ableton sessions for Sunday services and special events, overseeing Ableton infrastructure.
• Creates song maps for Sunday services and special events.
• Manages and creates musical resources, including charts, orchestrations, choral arrangements, reference tracks, and tutorials.
• Maintains the physical and digital song library, monitoring song usage and the frequency of new additions.
• Recruits, trains, and provides resources to volunteer musicians and music directors.
• Collaborates with the Production Director and Audio Director to create the optimal soundscape for events and services.
• Oversees the maintenance, care, and purchasing of musical instruments and equipment.
• Drafts and sends the volunteer schedule for all Sunday morning worship teams, including band, vocals, choir, and orchestra.
• Participates in weekly service planning with the Worship Arts Pastor, Worship Arts Coordinator, and pastoral leadership.
• Works alongside the Worship Arts Pastor to develop and disciple volunteer musicians at the Troy campus.
• Assists the Worship Arts team in identifying new talent by participating in the regular audition process.
• Attends all necessary meetings as directed by the Worship Arts Pastor.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Incumbent adheres to the Statement of Faith as established and approved by Woodside Bible Church
• Incumbent is a member in good standing (Troy campus), participates in praying, giving, serving, worshiping and attends special events as an active member of the church
