Job Description

Next Gen Pastor

The Next Gen Pastor at First Castroville plays a pivotal role in our church's mission, dedicated to guiding children, youth, and young adults on their faith journeys. They are an active and growing Christian who exemplifies a call to ministry in the local church. This role is mainly responsible for the Student Ministry (grades 6-12) and then acts as a direct supervisor to Next Gen ministry leadership. The Next Gen Pastor is charged with creating vibrant, engaging environments that inspire our next generation to become fully devoted followers of Christ. In fostering connections both to God and within the community, they will integrate innovative and relevant ministries tailored to resonate with the everyday lives of each age and stage.

Success in the Role

Success in this role is not just about meeting goals but about creating an environment where every participant grows in faith, feels deeply connected to the community, and is empowered to live out the gospel. In regard to Student Ministry, the Next Gen Pastor is devoted to leading students in 6th-12th grade to engage in their faith and invite others into relationship with Christ. The goal is to reach as many students in the church and community as possible for Christ. This means they lead and develop a high impact volunteer team who ensure students are connected through small groups, worship services, camps, mission trips, and more.

The results will be vibrant faith and transformative impact primarily in the Student Ministry then to the broader family ministry of the church. A few key indicators that you are on the right track are seen in spiritual growth, community engagement, volunteer empowerment, strategic vision, and pastoral care.

Spiritual growth is not always a visible or physical change in a person's life, however, there are traits FBC desires to see in the life of a student and their family. Growing Christians exhibit the Fruit of the Spirit with increasing measure as they are nurtured and challenged by the Student Ministry. Through engaging and spiritually enriching teaching, you will make the Gospel relatable and impactful, guiding the next generation in developing a profound, personal relationship with Christ. By working collaboratively with other family ministries, you will establish a discipleship pathway that fosters maturity in faith, where success is evident as students increasingly engage in worship, personal devotion, and service, and apply biblical truths in their everyday decisions and relationships.

As the Next Gen Pastor at First Castroville, you will provide exceptional pastoral care, establishing yourself as a trusted spiritual leader and counselor for families within our ministry. Your role involves creating strong, supportive relationships that guide individuals and families through life's challenges with faith. Additionally, you will manage resources efficiently, ensuring the ministry budget and materials are utilized to maximize the impact, quality, and reach of our programs. Serving others is valued and championed by the Next Gen Pastor, the volunteers, and the students. The Student Ministry freely gives of time, talent, and treasure for the sake of the gospel.

Worshipful engagement is expected as students are led to become more like Christ. The Next Gen Pastor leads them to experience God with wonder and develop a passion filled response to worship in its many forms.

Creative connections are fostered through fun, imaginative, relevant, and innovative activities and programming. The Next Gen Pastor leverages the spirit of fun and imagination given by our Creator.

Community minded ministry to families in the church and surrounding community. As the Next Gen Pastor at First Castroville, you will actively engage with the local community and schools to establish the church as a pivotal resource for spiritual growth and support. By collaborating with local organizations (i.e. FCA) and other churches, you will foster an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere that extends the reach and impact of our ministries. Your leadership will drive initiatives that significantly increase participation among children, youth, and young adults in church activities, positioning our church as a beacon of hope where families can be reframed in the image of Christ.

Qualifications and Experience

  • The Next Gen Pastor must be a responsible and passionate Christian who desires to make a difference in the lives of families.
  • This is an active job which requires the ability to keep a sustained quick pace.
  • This is a teaching and equipping position—delegation, training, and empowerment of volunteers is a must.
  • Communication is a key skill—delivering a message regularly, communicating in an effective way to students and families, and developing a good working relationship with the church staff is vital to success.
  • Must be a lifelong learner. It is required that the Next Gen Pastor seeks to further education, skills, and effectiveness through continued education, conferences, mentor relationships, and other forms of professional growth.
  • Completed undergraduate degree (required) with biblical emphasis is preferred. Pursuit of further education relevant to church ministry is a plus.

Position Details

  • This full-time position requires flexibility in hours, including evenings and weekends, to support various ministry activities and events.

Key Functions

  • Pastoral Team Collaboration: Serve as an integral member of the church's pastoral team, aiding the Senior Pastor and enhancing church leadership.
  • Student Ministry Oversight: Manage all aspects of Student Ministry activities from planning to execution, including weekly services and special events.
  • Pastoral Care: Provide pastoral care to families, preach, and teach as needed.
  • Budget Management: Administer the Next Gen ministry budget with integrity, optimizing resources to maximize ministry impact.
  • Policy Compliance: Adhere to all church policies, prioritizing safety and well-being of youth.
  • Equipping and empowering: Through building a robust team of volunteers, fostering a culture of delegation and shared leadership that enhances our thriving ministry environment. By building a volunteer team that is well-trained, highly motivated, and deeply committed, you will ensure that each member feels valued and is eager to contribute their best.
  • Next Gen Ministries Leadership: Additionally, you will foster a sense of unity and purpose among all ministry leads and volunteers, aligning everyone with the church's mission and encouraging collaboration towards common goals.

Team Leadership and Supervision
