Position Overview

Church of the Saviour Next Generation Ministry is looking for college-aged interns who have a strong and personal love for Jesus to come along side us in growing, together with our students, towards Him. This internship is designed for mature followers of Christ to aid us in that mission, but equally to be served by Church of the Saviour leadership to develop as Christian leaders themselves. This program exists so that interns can first be poured into by God and His Church by the Spirit, and then overflow into gospel ministry for the next generation. We seek in all things to love others, because God first loved us.

Primary Responsibilities

• Spiritual Growth: Maintain your walk with Christ and actively seek to grow in your faith. The first step in growing another's love for Christ, is to grow in love for Christ yourself. Daily time in God's Word & Prayer is key, along with attending the Sunday Worship Service (10:30 a.m.) each week. Regular group studies with the whole team, and one-on-one discipleship is how we'll seek to sharpen one another.
• Leadership Development: This program is geared to equip the church leaders of the future by developing you professionally, as a leader, and as a teammate. You'll collaborate with co-interns and Church of the Saviour staff to help the Student Ministry thrive in Jesus' name. You'll plan, coordinate, and lead various aspects, or at times the entirety of, Sunday School, Youth Group, hangouts/small events, pranks on Pastor Jon, day trips/big events, multi-day camps, and other programs as assigned.
• Shepherding Students: This ministry exists to see the gospel spread mightily in the Next Generation, and you'll be tasked with helping us accomplish that mission by God's grace. In all things, though imperfect, be imitators of Christ while modeling and encouraging our students to do the same. Share with them the treasure you've found. Pray and humbly work to set up our students, their parents, and this staff to continue to have seeds planted and grow for the years to come.

Qualifications

• Must have a strong personal faith in Jesus Christ and his gospel
• Must have completed freshman year of college or be age equivalent (at least 19 years old)
• Must have a cell phone, laptop, and general proficiency for various responsibilities
• Must obtain, before internship start date, all required clearances to serve with minors
• Must generally agree with all aspects of Church of the Saviour's Statement of Faith (available here)

Compensation: $4,000 minus normal tax withholdings

Overview:

Church of the Saviour is a non-denominational Christ-centered church of approximately 1,000 people in the Philadelphia suburb of Wayne, Pennsylvania. We are called by Jesus Christ to engage our community (and beyond) to the glory of God. We take the Great Commission seriously and actively support local outreach and global missions. We have personally experienced the Good News of Jesus Christ and now count it both an extreme privilege and responsibility to be ministers of reconciliation to a lost and hurting world. We depend on the Holy Spirit to enable and empower us to fulfill God's plan for our lives and our church. We are certain that Christ is supreme in all things, and we know we are most fully alive and fulfilled when we are glorifying the Lord most fully.

Church of the Saviour Next Generation Ministry is looking for college-aged interns who have a strong and personal love for Jesus to come along side us in growing, together with our students, towards Him. It is our great joy to see more students call Jesus their personal savior, for students to dive deeper into their faith, and to equip more disciples to carry out His Great Commission. This internship is designed for mature followers of Christ to aid us in that mission, but equally to be served by Church of the Saviour leadership to develop as Christian leaders themselves. This program exists so that interns can first be poured into by God and His Church by the Spirit, and then overflow into gospel ministry for the next generation. We seek in all things to love others, because God first loved us.

Internship Details:

• Duration: 10 weeks, full-time, from May 29th to August 7th
• Compensation: $4,000 (before tax withholdings)
• Focus: Personal, spiritual, and professional development through one-on-one discipleship and hands-on ministry leadership and responsibilities
• Primary Goals:
  • Grow in your own personal faith in Jesus Christ
  • Serve Christ by ministering to kids (preschool through completed 5th grade)
• Housing: Provided by Church of the Saviour if needed
• Requirements: Interns must provide their own transportation and health insurance
• Reporting Structure: Next Generation interns with Student Ministry emphasis will report directly to the Director of Student Ministry, but will also work closely with both the College & Next Generation Pastor and the Director of Kids Ministry.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Daily time in God's Word & prayer and weekly meetings with staff and co-interns for spiritual, professional, leadership & teamwork development
• Regular one-on-one time with staff for personal discipleship, mentorship, and fellowship
• Collaborate with co-interns and church staff to help Student Ministry thrive in Jesus' name
• Attend Sunday School at 9:00 a.m. and our Worship Service at 10:30 a.m. throughout the internship
• Attend weekly Church of the Saviour staff meetings throughout the internship
• Plan, coordinate, and lead various Student Ministry events like Wednesday night Youth Group, Block Parties, day trips, student hangouts, small group bible studies, pranks on Pastor Jon, and more
• Be trained and serve by teaching, running a/v, leading worship, leading games, and more
• Attend and co-lead various multi-day events consisting of overnight camps, VBS, etc.
• Uphold a safe, welcoming environment and Christ-centered experiences for all students at all times
• Though imperfect, be imitators of Christ while modeling and encouraging our kids to do the same
• Pray at all times in the Spirit that our students would understand the gospel, take Christ as their own, be set free from sin, be led to sanctification, and eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord
• Assist with events and perform additional tasks as assigned by the Next Generation Ministry team
