Outreach Pastor – Southview Baptist Church – Hope Mills, NCAnnual Salary Range: $65,000 – $85,000

Position Overview:The Outreach Pastor at Southview Baptist Church will focus on external ministry efforts. This role will serve as a liaison between the church, local churches, the military/Veteran community (including Fort Bragg), the New South River Baptist Association, and the various North Carolina Baptist Convention entities, such as SendNC and Baptists on Mission. The Outreach Pastor will work closely with the Lead Pastor, other pastoral staff, and ministry directors to ensure that all outreach efforts align with Southview's vision of knowing, feeding, leading, and protecting the flock.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Community and Military Outreach Serve as the church's liaison to Fort Bragg, the wider military community, community leaders, other churches, the New South River Baptist Association, and the North Carolina Baptists (SendNC and Baptists on Mission).
  • Develop and implement community outreach initiatives that meet the spiritual and physical needs of Hope Mills and surrounding areas.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local and military leaders, churches, and community organizations to foster partnerships and outreach opportunities. This includes actively engaging in one-on-one discussions with local and civic leaders, as well as military command teams and chaplains.
  • Engage with Fort Bragg leadership to develop holistic spiritual care plans for military families, including emergency response plans for rapid mass deployments. Partner with other churches in this effort to ensure the widest possible net for spiritual care.
  • Develop initiatives to support and disciple military families transitioning in and out of the area.
  • Plan and lead military appreciation events, veteran support groups, and deployment care ministries.
  • Plan and execute routine outreach events throughout the local community in order maintain a persistent presence among those we are called to reach.
  • Maintain and establish outreach initiatives centered on partnerships with local schools to empower the church to champion care of local children.

Discipleship and Missions LeadershipServe as Pastoral oversight for missions and evangelism.

  • Shepherd a missions board/team that oversees and synchronizes local, national, and international outreach efforts, such as mission trips and projects.
  • Collaborate with other pastors and ministry leaders to ensure holistic outreach strategy.
  • Organize and lead mission trips, service projects, and community outreach initiatives.
  • Equip and mobilize church members to participate in evangelistic and discipleship initiatives in the local community.
  • Liaise with supported missionaries and missions organizations that we partner with and support.

Preaching, Teaching, and LeadershipProvide biblical teaching and preaching as assigned by the Lead Pastor.

  • Assist in developing outreach-focused sermon series, Bible studies, and discipleship materials.
  • Lead, train, and equip church members in evangelism and community engagement.
  • Offer pastoral care, counseling, and support to families and community members in need.
  • Participate in planning worship services, weddings, and funeral services as needed.

Administrative and Strategic ResponsibilitiesWork with the pastoral team to develop and implement strategies that fulfill the church's mission and vision.

  • Assist in the development of the church's outreach budget and ensure financial resources are used effectively.
  • Maintain strong organizational skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Ensure that outreach initiatives are effectively communicated to the congregation and community.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings and contribute to a healthy team culture among church leadership.
  • Coordinate and promote the digital presence for the church including but not limited to social media, organization website, outward facing digital footprint.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Meet biblical qualifications of an Elder / Overseer.
  • Evangelical in theology, in accordance with the Baptist Faith and Message (2000 edition).
  • In full agreement with the 2017 Nashville Statement (cbmw.org).
  • Five years of pastoral ministry experience with a focus on outreach or military ministry desired.
  • Military affiliation is desired.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Ability to motivate and equip the church body to engage in outreach.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience in conflict resolution and pastoral care.
  • Ability to translate the church vision into actionable outreach strategies.
  • A heart for families, a passion for evangelism and community outreach, and a deep love for Christ and His Church.

Accountability:

  • Supervision: Reports to the Lead Pastor (mutual accountability; submitting to one another in love).
  • Program Support: Works in collaboration with the Ministerial Staff and Laity.
  • Annual Performance Reviews: Conducted by the Lead Pastor.

The Outreach Pastor will play a critical role in extending the mission of Southview Baptist Church beyond the walls of the church, providing avenues and opportunities to put discipleship principles into action, and ensuring that our congregation actively engages in reaching our military and local communities with the love of Christ.
