Church Overview

Salem Methodist Church of Thomson is a Global Methodist Church located a couple of miles southeast of Thomson, Georgia. We have been at this location for over 200 years and look forward to serving the community for at least that long again. We are a small church looking to grow with the blessings of the Lord.

Role Overview

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated part-time pastor to lead our congregation at Salem Methodist Church. In this role, you will be responsible for providing spiritual guidance, teaching biblical principles, and fostering a strong sense of community within our church. Your leadership will inspire and equip members to grow in their faith and serve others.

Responsibilities

• Preach weekly sermons that are biblically grounded, engaging, and relevant to the congregation's needs
• Provide pastoral care, counseling, and support to individuals and families during times of need
• Lead church programs, activities, and events that promote spiritual growth and community engagement
• Collaborate with church leadership and volunteers to develop and implement church initiatives
• Encourage and mentor church members in their spiritual journey and involvement in ministry
• Oversee the administration of church ordinances, such as baptism and communion
• Actively participate in community outreach efforts to serve and connect with the local community

Required and Preferred Qualifications

Required:

• Licensed or ordained by the Global Methodist Church and if not, willing and able to get licensed or ordained by the GMC.
• Demonstrated experience in pastoral ministry and preaching
• Understanding of scripture and ability to teach biblical principles effectively
• Compassionate and approachable demeanor with strong interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficiency in counseling and conflict resolution
• Involvement in community service or outreach programs

Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies

• Familiarity with live streaming worship service
• Experience with social media preferred

Soft Skills and Cultural Fit

• Strong communication and public speaking skills
• Ability to foster a welcoming environment
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with church members and staff
• Commitment to continuous personal and spiritual growth
