Part-time Worship Director
The Worship Director at First Baptist Church of Welcome, NC provides spiritual leadership for our worship services through the gift of music and prayer, sharing the Word of God and the news of Jesus Christ using song, multimedia, visual and non-visual performances, to help the congregation and community understand and experience the love of Christ and develop a strong foundation of faith. The Worship Director works with volunteers, and reports to the Lead Pastor, to accomplish the Vision and Mission Statement of First Baptist Church of Welcome.
QUALIFICATIONS
The Worship Director is to be a born-again believer, acknowledging Jesus Christ as both Lord and Savior, and have an ongoing personal relationship with Him. The Worship Director will agree with the doctrines found in Scripture and supported by the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 of the Southern Baptist Convention.
The Worship Director shall possess the administrative skills necessary to perform his duties, including the relational interpersonal skills for working with various members of the congregation. He must be gifted in communication, instrumental (be able to lead on either piano or guitar) and vocal music. He is to be self-motivated, have a teachable spirit to grow as a person and as a leader, and be a strong team player among his fellow staff working together to strengthen all areas of the church's ministry, having the proven ability to involve others in planning and decision-making. The worship director must submit to a thorough background check including financial/credit history; criminal – local, state, federal; drug test and personal references.
Responsibilities
The Worship Director submits to the direct supervision of the Lead Pastor and works in cooperation with the entire staff.
Meets weekly with the Lead Pastor and staff to discuss service themes and other elements to be included within the worship services. Coordinates the Church Music Ministry with the calendar and emphases of the church.
Musical Responsibilities
Weighs theological integrity of selected songs for worship, and partners closely with the Lead Pastor to ensure congruence of Biblical teaching and worship songs selected.
Coordinates, plans, and provides leadership and music for Sunday morning and evening worship services, as scheduled, and will oversee all music ministry support volunteers.
Fosters a community of cooperation and excellence in all aspects of the ministries of First Baptist Welcome.
Selects, arranges, and prepares songs, scripture, call to worship, prayers and coordinates relevant media for the worship teams on a weekly basis.
Directs worship team and in leading the congregation in song. Coordinates the training and use of instrumentalists and vocalists in groups or as individuals, as is necessary.
Prepares all materials for the worship team, and instrumentalists, including sheet music and rehearsal materials. He will extensively use Planning Center Online Services (PCO) to plan and schedule. Will be responsible for uploading all digital files into PCO in a timely manner for all songs for rehearsal and performances.
He is to be proficient in or be willing to learn the church provided technology which currently includes production software, scheduling software, and livestream software.
Works with the church's Technology Committee, and contracted partners, to ensure all worship services are delivered excellently to the glory of our Lord Jesus.
Coordinates set-up of all equipment for rehearsals and services with FBC Welcome's team of technology support volunteers for sound, projection and LiveStream events.
Participates in the preparation of the church's annual budget relative to expenditures involved in the areas of ministry that come under his supervision and sees to it that expenditures are kept within the accepted budget.
