Court Street Baptist Church (Auburn, ME) – Pastor

The Big Picture

Court Street Baptist Church (https://courtstreetbaptist.org) is seeking a new Pastor.

The Church and Candidate

Court Street Baptist Church, Auburn, Maine, is searching for an ordained American Baptist Pastor to lead a diverse congregation towards spiritual growth and service, both locally and globally. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong leadership skills, effective communication abilities, and a deep commitment to the ministry.

Responsibilities include preaching, teaching, counseling, and collaborating with church leaders to ensure alignment with the church's mission and values. The Pastor must meet Biblical qualifications, demonstrate pastoral care, and have a passion for mentoring others. A dedication to scriptural teaching is crucial for this role.

Lewiston/Auburn is a vibrant community, renowned for its keen sense of togetherness, highlighted through numerous events like holiday parades and cultural celebrations. Residents take pride in excellent schools, a modern public library in each city offering diverse programs, and ample open spaces for outdoor activities. We are an urban college community with an influx of French speaking Africans. Featuring a range of ethnic eateries, Lewiston/Auburn's diversity shines, complemented by convenient access to Boston, along with scenic destinations to the ocean or mountains.

In July 2024, an unprecedented storm dropped over five inches of rain on Auburn in a matter of hours, washing a massive quantity of mulch down the driveway of Court St Baptist Church and clogging the storm basin at the bottom. The door was pushed into the building and the ground floor and basement were flooded with over two feet of water. Needless to say, CSBC was suddenly without a building.

A number of area churches reached out to us, offering worship space in their buildings. In the ensuing months, we first met at the Hansen barn, and then with the arrival of cold weather, met at South Lewiston Baptist for Sunday worship service at 12:30 pm and Grace Lutheran Church for Sunday evening worship, as well as for prayer meeting and Bible studies. In October 2024, the church voted to not return to our home for over 165 years and the building is currently on the market.
