Pastor – Equipping – Preaching – Missional Community Groups
Job Overview
Mountain View Community Church is a church plant that is just over 4 years old, planted in Bozeman, MT through the support of Crossway Network and its planting church in Fort Collins, CO. Bozeman's rapid growth, disproportionately large college population at MSU (16,700+), numerous outdoor activities, and transplants from all over the country made it ideal for reaching the lost with the Gospel through a biblically planted church. The church has grown in depth, breadth, and in financial stability, increasing its shepherding needs and making it the perfect time to hire a second full time pastor.
We are seeking a Staff Pastor to join our community and serve on our team. This position demands a passion for serving the Lord, coupled with the ability to shepherd and equip the church body through leadership, discipleship, and pastoral care. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a heart for discipleship, and the ability to help oversee various ministry areas within the church. Responsibilities include providing pastoral care, equipping leaders, supporting Missional Community Groups, assisting in preaching and teaching, and contributing to the overall mission and vision of MVCC. The role requires a balance between structured leadership responsibilities and openness to Spirit-led ministry opportunities, ensuring a deep, communal connection with God among our church family. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our pastoral team and our dedicated servant team of volunteers, helping to cultivate a culture of discipleship and mission.
As a Staff Pastor, you will help set the vision for various ministry areas, ensuring they align with MVCC's mission. You will recruit and train leaders, disciple church members, and foster a culture of spiritual growth and multiplication.
As part of the pastoral team, you will be considered for inclusion on the Pastor Board, reflecting our commitment to integrated pastoral oversight. Candidates should be open to personal and professional development towards eldership, whether through enrollment in our Leaders Institute (LI) training or, for those already meeting the qualifications, an expedited integration into church governance.

Snapshot of Mountain View Community Church
Mountain View Community Church is a church plant that is just over 4 years old, planted in Bozeman, MT through the support of Crossway Network and its planting church in Fort Collins, CO. Bozeman's rapid growth, disproportionately large college population at MSU (16,700+), numerous outdoor activities, and transplants from all over the country made it ideal for reaching the lost with the Gospel through a biblically planted church. The church has grown in depth, breadth, and in financial stability, increasing its shepherding needs and making it the perfect time to hire a second full time pastor.
MVCC has a few hundred that call it their church home, with an average attendance of 175 that fluctuates with the college semesters, often going over 200 people on a Sunday. Meeting in a basketball gym at a local Christian school allows for greater investment in people and the mission of the church, though the pastors are open to a building in the future if the Lord wills. The demographics largely reflect the city, with a majority of the church under the age of 35, though with a growing number of older members. The children's ministry has around 42 children, there's a youth group led by highly committed volunteers, a desire for a future college ministry, a need to creatively disciple the great number of 20s-30 year olds, and a major opportunity for building a thriving Missional Community Group ministry at the church, which currently has 6 groups. The church also has a Trail Life ministry that reaches well beyond the local congregation, and a thriving Backcountry Ministry with trained guides who lead outdoor trips throughout the summer, including 9+ trips this year.
The Staff Culture is fun and driven, meeting weekly to debrief the past Sunday's "nopes & dopes," and to plan out the next two Sundays. Composed of a part time Worship Leader, part time Children's Director, an unpaid part time Operations Director and the Lead Pastor, the team prioritizes "staff culture plays" such as roots before fruits and whipped cream (we are serious about our mission but don't take ourselves too seriously). This creates a truly healthy environment where the staff is most equipped to do what God has designed them to do in ministry. The next full time pastor will join this team and work closely with the Lead Pastor to continue to develop the culture of the church, both on staff and within the entire body.
The vision of MVCC is only becoming more clear as the pastor team is prayerfully developing the next 10-year vision to present to the church. The church exists to introduce people to Jesus Christ and help them grow as his followers. It has deep desire for both evangelism and discipleship, reaching into the "red zones" of Bozeman that are devoid of the Gospel. Ultimately, the church wants to see every person in Bozeman know Jesus, grow as his follower, and go plant churches regionally and globally for the glory of God.
Lastly, MVCC has a laser focus on planting more churches. As a church in a town with a major university, the vision is to see the lives of young people saved by Jesus, trained and discipled by the church, and equipped to go plant more churches in the Rocky Mountain Region, perhaps in cities with other major university centers. A student may be graduating and wanting to be an accountant– but what is to prevent that student from looking for an accounting job in a city where a new church is being planted, and join the church plant team on mission? MVCC is committed to aggressively pursuing church planting and being a hub of support for churches in the Rocky Mountain Region and beyond.
