Description of Organization
We have existed as an OPC congregation since 1941. We are in the Sunset neighborhood that is two miles from the Pacific ocean and is about fifty percent Asian-Chinese. We are four blocks from Golden Gate Park. We are on a direct line to San Francisco airport and points south, and the Golden Gate Bridge and points north.
Providentially, in the late 1970's and early 1980's, the church and its session was forced to examine their worship practices. The session began to review their worship practices in the light of the Holy Scriptures and the Regulative Principle. It subsequently adopted exclusive Psalmody. We have been blessed with the Christ centered focus of new covenant worship and the means of grace that God, in his mercy, provides.
Our previous pastor retired in May of 2021. We have experienced significant challenges over the last five years and are half of the size we had reached before covid, distance working and relocations, resignation of an elder, and some members leaving over disagreements with the ruling body. We are therefore seeking a man with a love for God and his people conducive to a rebuilding of the local church body in an urban environment.
