Pastor
Part-time (half-time) position prayerfully leading to full-time position as church grows.
Responsibilities of the Pastor When the pastor serves as a bi-vocational pastor, it is understood that these responsibilities will be adjusted accordingly, however, his ministry needs to be balanced between all responsibilities.
A. Ministerial 1. The pastor must believe, teach and promote the faith as believed by this church and described in the Baptist Faith and Message (Adopted by Southern Baptist Convention June 14, 2000). He shall minister to the church at all regular and appointed times of worship and service. 2. He shall serve as a pastor-leader, not as lord over or ruling executive, but as a loving servant as described in the Bible by Jesus to His disciples and spoken by Peter. 3. He will serve as a pastor-leader to develop a plan to meet the spiritual needs of the family through counseling, encouraging members, teaching Biblical responsibilities, fellowship and friendship. 4. His service to the people will include ministry to the sick, counseling the brokenhearted, troubled, and needy. 5. He will visit prospects and the lost, as much as time allows, winning them to the Lord and church membership.
B. Administrative 1. The pastor will work with the appointed and elected leaders, deacons and committees to form a loving, working relationship to promote soul winning, visitation, church growth (spiritually, numerically and financially) and a Godly testimony in the community to which we minister. 2. The pastor will be the shepherding administrator of the church by following the constitution, by-laws, church policy, budget, and other directed church activities. 3. The pastor will be responsible for identifying ordained or lay pastors as substitutes during his vacation time and whenever he is ill or otherwise incapacitated. All substitute pastors must be approved by the deacons and must meet the qualifications of ARTICLE IX Section 2 of these Bylaws.
C. Organizational 1. He will be ex-officio member of all committees; without voting privilege. 2. He will preside at all meetings of the church, unless stated otherwise in these bylaws. Section 4. Revival Meetings A. The pastor shall be permitted to hold revival meetings at other churches after one (1) year, not to exceed two (2) weeks during any one year, and may retain the love offerings received during such revival. His regular salary and/or any benefits will not be penalized. B. Any expenses incurred by the pastor at the revival meetings at other churches are to be paid by the pastor. C. The pastor will secure evangelists for all revival meetings with the concurrence of the church at a business meeting. An agreement shall be reached prior to the revival service pertaining to expenses.
