Job Description

The Church

Heritage Baptist Church is about 25 years old, Baptistic in doctrine, with elders. The congregation comes from three different states and the average person drives approximately 35 miles to services. The flock is in good shape spiritually, relationally and even financially as a process has started to save to buy a property for a new building.  The metropolitan area made up of Sioux City, South Sioux City, North Sioux City, and the Dunes in South Dakota, is approximately 169,000 people. There are a few churches in the area that teach the gospel (with different degrees of clarity), but we really believe the Word of God and hold one another accountable to what the Bible says.

The Candidate

We require a man that meets the qualifications in I Timothy and Titus.  The pulpit has been faithfully filled over the last 20 years by our retiring pastor and we want a new pastor who is also gifted at preaching and teaching the Word of God.  The sermons go out on a weekly radio program on two area stations.  While the candidate would not have to be certified in nouthetic counseling he should be extremely adept at using God’s word in meeting the needs of the flock.  The church is healthy, eager to grow in the Word of God and praying for the next pastor God would have for us.
