Hillcrest Baptist Church in Port Angeles, Washington, is seeking a pastor for its congregation. It is a Southern Baptist church with members coming from a range of Christian backgrounds coming together to focus on Biblical truth. Hillcrest members are a small but dedicated group who are interested in learning about eschatology, prophecy, and some of the deeper or more scholarly aspects of The Bible.
A prospective pastor should:
-Share a fundamental view that The Bible is the inerrant word of God
-Be trained in seminary, or have some substantial training
-Have a commitment to "teaching" and not just "preaching"
-Have or be willing to develop a vision for church growth and use of the building
-Have a point of view on where we are in Biblical prophecy
-Focus on God's word
-Be willing to handle Church matters such as weddings, funerals, counseling on occasion, and baptisms
-Provide direction in the area of music, or boost the musical state of worship services
-Willing to lead the congregation in prayer as a result of a personal prayer life
-Understanding of, and willingness to preach on, the Old Testament
