First Christian Church in Rifle has a position for a Pastor who is called to shepherd a dedicated family of God in a rural community alongside a board and elders, and will promote a sense of community and spiritual growth with a Bible-based approach in all aspects of ministry.

The First Christian Church (FCC) in Rifle was started in 1904. It is an independent, Bible-centered Christian Church, with an average Sunday worship attendance of 30-40 people every week and is led by elders and served by deacons, in accordance with the church constitution and bylaws. FCC consists of ages young and old committed to serving the local community. The church's mission is to win people to faith in Jesus Christ, to help them grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ, and to work for the unity of all Christians to engage in the common task of building the kingdom of God.

Various ministries at FCC include regular Bible studies Sunday mornings, a women's study, men's study and a children's ministry. FCC collaborates with local churches, participates at our local soup kitchen and food bank, and supports other independent ministries locally and worldwide. The harvest is ripe among our community's youth population, families and those struggling with substance abuse.

THE LOCATION

Rifle, Colorado is on the west side of the Rockies, approximately one hour drive east of Grand Junction and 3 hours west of Denver. Rifle has a population of approximately 11,000 and is a commuter town for many that work up valley to Aspen and Vail. Rifle is mostly an oil & gas and hospitality community that has diverse conservative leanings. The location offers year-round recreation with everything the outdoor enthusiast can imagine (hunting, fishing, mountain biking, skiing, ice fishing, etc.) – all in a picturesque location on the Western Slope of Colorado. The atmosphere of a caring and friendly community has been preserved amidst a steady growth of population.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepares Sunday Sermons
• Reviews Bible Studies led in small groups
• Funeral and Wedding availability
• Visitation, Calling, & Counseling
• Administrative duties, with option to hire assistant when budget allows
• Facility & Maintenance as available or able
