Pastor of Care
Job Overview
The Pastor of Care provides pastoral support and shepherding to individuals and families within the Arlington Heights congregation. As an extension of this ministry, the Pastor of Care oversees LIFE Groups and other care-oriented groups, ensuring they are biblically grounded, relationally healthy, and equipped to care for one another. This role also partners closely with the Campus Pastor in leading the Deacon team and carrying out broader pastoral care responsibilities as needs arise.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Minister the Word and prayer to the Arlington Heights congregation alongside the pastoral staff.
- Lead the weekly Pastoral Care Meeting, overseeing the prayer requests and other care lists to ensure all needs are addressed, delegated appropriately, and followed up in a timely manner.
- Provide biblical counsel to the individuals and families within our congregation, particularly in times of crisis, illness, grief, life transitions, and other significant seasons of life.
- Provide pastoral oversight to the LIFE Group ministry at Arlington Heights, including equipping and encouraging current leaders and recruiting and training new group leaders.
- Collaborate with staff and other ministry teams to ensure clear and accessible pathways for new people to join a LIFE Group.
- Partner with the Campus Pastor to lead and support our Deacons as an extension of the church's pastoral care ministry.
- Assist with weekly platform duties (e.g., announcements, prayer, communion, benediction) and participate in pastoral ministry related to significant life events such as child dedication, baptism, membership, marriage, major crises, and funerals, as needed.
- Provide pastoral oversight of lay-led care groups (e.g., Celebrate Recovery, GriefShare), offering encouragement, accountability, and church-vision alignment to lay leaders.
- Lead and manage staff members, as assigned, in alignment with the mission and values of the Church.
- Other duties as assigned by the Campus Pastor.
Qualifications:
- Must seek to walk closely in devotion to God and have a solid understanding of the gospel.
- Theologically aligned and in agreement with EFCA Statement of Faith and The Orchard's Statement on Human Life and Marriage
- Bachelor's degree required; Master of Divinity preferred.
- Experience and/or certified training in Biblical Counseling (e.g., ACBC, CCEF) is a plus.
- Three plus years of full-time ministry experience required.
- Theologically aligned and in agreement with EFCA Statement of Faith.
- Ability to organize, analyze, and execute tasks in a timely manner.
- Exercise discretion and good judgment in personal contacts.
- Ability to communicate effectively with management, members, and volunteers.
- Demonstrate professionalism through appearance, attitude, and personal interactions.
- Self-motivated and able to initiate projects and work independently.
- Computer literate in order to complete necessary tasks within software applications.
- Positive and supportive attitude.
Salary Range: $65,000 – $75,000 based on skills and experience.
