Position Summary
The Pastor of Community and Discipleship will lead Redeemer Church in cultivating a culture of gospel-centered community and intentional disciple-making. This role will provide vision, oversight, and strategic direction for our Community Groups and champion a clear discipleship pathway through Discipleship Groups. The Pastor of Community and Discipleship will equip leaders, shepherd members, and ensure that Redeemer's people are being formed into the likeness of Christ for the sake of the mission.*

Primary Responsibilities
Community Groups
- Provide vision and leadership for Redeemer's Community Group ministry, ensuring groups are multiplying disciples, fostering gospel-centered relationships, and living on mission.
- Recruit, train, shepherd, and equip Community Group leaders.
- Develop ongoing leader training, coaching, and care structures.
- Establish rhythms of assessment and health checks for all groups.
- Cast vision regularly to the church body for the importance of biblical community.
Discipleship Pathway
- Champion a clear discipleship pathway that helps people move from new attenders to mature disciples who make disciples.
- Oversee Redeemer's Discipleship Groups (D-Groups), cultivating multiplication.
- Ensure alignment of all discipleship environments (worship, groups, studies) with Redeemer's mission and values.
- Partner with other staff to integrate discipleship into ministries across the church (students, kids, assimilation, etc.).
- Oversee men's & women's bible studies.
Leadership and Shepherding
- Provide pastoral care to the leaders and members of Redeemer, as part of the staff team.
- Collaborate with the Lead Pastor and staff team to advance Redeemer's mission of making disciples and planting churches.
- Participate in pastoral duties such as counseling, weddings, funerals, and hospital visitation as needed.
Qualifications
- A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a vibrant, growing relationship with Him.
- Meets the biblical qualifications of an elder (1 Tim. 3:1–7; Titus 1:5–9; 1 Pet. 5:1–4).
- Agreement with Redeemer Church's statement of faith, mission, and values.
- Demonstrated gifting and experience in disciple-making, leadership development, and pastoral ministry.
- Strong ability to cast vision, build teams, and shepherd leaders.
- Effective communication skills (teaching, leading, and relational discipleship).
- Seminary degree preferred but not required; ministry experience in similar contexts strongly desired.

- Health and multiplication of Community Groups.
- Growth of a clear and effective discipleship pathway.
- Development and care of healthy leaders.
- Congregational engagement in gospel-centered community and disciple-making.
*This position, as with all of our positions, does not begin as a pastor/elder role. Upon hire, a season of examination will begin. Formal eldership will not commence until the the eldership process has been completed and the church has affirmed them joining the elder team.
