Reports directly to the Senior Pastor and works in coordination with the Student Life and adult discipleship commissions.
Job Description
Purpose
The Pastor of Connections and Youth will build disciples for Christ by developing and implementing a comprehensive approach to ministry for Student Life, young adults, and adults of all ages, while serving as a spiritual leader and role model. This pastor will partner with Life Group leaders, ministry volunteers, staff, and Church Council to ground the congregation in the foundations of faith so that they may mature as followers of Jesus. The Pastor of Connections and Youth will also streamline and create processes to connect with visitors and move them along in discipleship until they are committed followers of Christ.

To be successful, the Pastor of Connections and Youth must be able to effectively perform each of the following essential roles:
- Champion – Develop and lead a gospel-centered discipleship strategy for youth and adults, promoting and fostering Life Groups and spiritual growth.
- Reach – Develop and implement strategies to engage, love, and minister to youth, young adults, and adults in our community.
- Connect – Develop and implement strategies to help guests feel welcomed, take next steps, get connected in a Life Group, and engage in service.
- Equip – Ensure every member, including youth and young adults, is well-trained to serve the church and community, share the gospel, and disciple others.
- Empower – Help members identify their gifting and develop systems to enable them to use their gifts in ministry.
Primary Responsibilities
- Build a connection culture, leading attendees to Gather, Grow, and Give as part of a broader community at Clarksburg Baptist Church.

Student Life Ministry (12-18)
- Lead and oversee ministry to middle and high school students, ensuring biblical teaching, discipleship, and relational connection.
- Recruit, train, and equip volunteer youth leaders.
- Plan and lead weekly youth gatherings, discipleship groups, retreats, camps, and special events.
- Provide spiritual care, mentoring, and pastoral presence for students and families.

Young Adult Ministry (19-29)
- Develop and grow a thriving young adult ministry that fosters community, discipleship, and leadership development.
- Create regular opportunities for fellowship, worship, and service geared specifically toward young adults (college, career).
- Provide intentional discipleship pathways for young adults to mature in faith and step into leadership roles.

Adult Ministries (30 and older)
- Recruit and equip volunteers to lead in men's, women's, and senior adult ministries, ensuring sustainability and growth.
- Create regular community opportunities for each adult group to connect with others in the same stage of life and connect them with Life Groups.
- Recruit and equip Life Group leaders with a holistic approach to discipleship.
- Evaluate curriculum needs of Life Groups to ensure Christ-centered teaching and application of Scripture.

Pastoral Leadership
- Assist the Senior Pastor in shepherding Clarksburg Baptist Church and perform additional tasks at his direction.
- Preach and teach at the direction of the Senior Pastor.
Requirements
- Must have made a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and must demonstrate the reality of that relationship through action, attitude, and behavior.
- Must have a love for Jesus and a desire to see lives and the community changed by the gospel.
- Must clearly possess the character qualifications of a Pastor listed in 1 Timothy 3:1-7.
- Must have a strong understanding of Scripture; degree in Bible, theology, or ministry strongly preferred (or willingness to develop a plan to pursue).
- Must have the passion and gift of discipleship.
- Must possess pastoral influence, strong communication skills, and the ability to effectively preach and teach across generations.
- Must have proven ability to work with and maintain positive, healthy relationships with those inside and outside the church.
- Must have the ability to balance team and individual responsibilities, and contribute to building a positive team spirit.
- Must be adaptable, flexible, and able to handle unexpected changes.
- Must have ministry experience with youth and small groups (Life Groups), and an understanding of today's culture, with the ability to communicate the gospel within it.
- Must be able to pass a background check performed by Clarksburg Baptist Church.
