Overview
Risen Church is looking to hire a Pastor of Discipleship and Spiritual Formation who will champion, cultivate, and lead the discipleship and spiritual formation at Risen. The Pastor of Discipleship and Spiritual Formation serves as an influential part of the church while working alongside the lead pastor, staff, elders, and the individuals who volunteer and serve.

Job Description
Responsibilities
Preaching and Teaching
- Preach twice a month.
- Joyfully welcome the church, communicate announcements, read Scripture, administer Communion on non-preaching Sundays.
- Teach Newcomers Lunch, Membership Class, Baptism Class, Discipleship Groups, and Leadership Training Class.
Ministry Development
- Develop, nurture, manage, take ownership, be responsible for, and lead the end to end process from Connections Ministry to Discipleship Ministry which includes Community Groups, Women’s and Men’s Ministry, Family Ministry, Discipleship Groups, Leadership Training (while also incorporating membership and serving at Risen).
- Recruit, mentor, train, and develop apprentices/leaders for the above ministries.
- Multiply Community Groups by recruiting and training leaders, apprentices, and gathering new Community Group members.
Shepherding
- Provide individual, marital, and family counseling to members at Risen.
Other
- Hybrid working situation – Attend weekly in person staff meetings, daily video call stand ups, monthly staff/elder/families fellowships.
- Collaborate with other church leaders on special events throughout the year.
- Be an active participant in the community life of our church.
Requirements
- Alignment with Risen’s Mission Statement, Core Principles, and Statement of Faith.
- At least one year of ministry experience.
- Desire and ability to study the Word of God and effectively communicate it to the demographic in the Bay Area.
- Seasoned organization, prioritization, and leadership skills.
- Excellent written, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Willingness and desire to listen, learn, and grow.
- Completion of seminary degree.
- Ordained or willing to pursue ordination in the PCA (Presbyterian Church in America)

There is both a California State school and a Junior College in Hayward with over 35,000 students in attendance.
