Job Overview

The Pastor of Discipleship/Students is responsible to the church for developing and implementing the processes involved in making disciples. This may include (but is not limited to) training volunteers, collaboration with other staff, and presenting opportunities for outreach and missions. He is also responsible for the development and promotion of biblical, educational programs for the church. Furthermore, he will direct and lead our students in walking with Jesus and following Him throughout their adulthood. The Student Ministry component will require 1 annual summer camp, 1 annual spiritual retreat, and missional opportunities.

Job Description

Responsibilities (60% Discipleship/Education, 40% Student Ministry)

  • The Minister of Discipleship/Students will lead the church in planning, conducting, and evaluating a comprehensive program of Christian education.

  • The Minister of Discipleship/Students will serve as educational resource person and advisor to the leaders of age based discipleship processes.

  • The Minister of Discipleship/Students will work within the church process to select, enlist, and train qualified leaders for the purpose of making disciples and outreach into the community.

  • The Minister of Discipleship/Students may be called upon to develop special educational and training projects such as camps, retreats, and study seminars for various age groups within the congregation.

  • The Minister of Discipleship/Students will lead the church to be aware of the educational and curriculum materials available and lead the church to choose the most suitable. He will also be charged with procurement and dispersal of curriculum.

  • The Minister of Discipleship/Students will keep informed on methods, materials, principles, procedures, promotion, and administration as related to the various discipleship processes in the local church.

  • The Minister of Discipleship/Students will meet regularly with the pastor and staff for prayer, collaboration, and evaluation of the various ministries within the local church.

  • The Minister of Discipleship/Students will plan, organize, and promote youth camp(s) and various programs as needed for the youth (7th-12th One spring retreat and one summer camp event are the norm for RHBC.

  • The Minister of Discipleship/Students will lead our Wednesday night student group. He will also be charged with leading (or training someone else to lead) our boys' student group on Sunday morning.

  • The Minister of Discipleship/Students is expected to participate in the lives of students and their families in an effort to better disciple them. Activities such as athletic competitions, outreach organizations within the local school system, and graduations are commonly attended.
