Job Description for Pastor of Families & Discipleship This position reports directly to the Lead Pastor. Family RoleEstablish and lead execution of the processes for equipping families to disciple, discipline, and overall manage their children and family. Including: · Planning and leading seminars and workshops specializing in specific family/parenting subjects and needs i.e. family discipleship, family worship, technology, etc.· Establishing Bible Study Groups that focus on equipping and supporting parents.· Creating a database (in time, online) of parenting resources, including books, articles, and teaching notes.· Collaborate with other pastors (Lead, NextGen, and others) for family-equipping initiatives.· Being available to counsel parents during a family crisis.· Being available to counsel children (with signed parental permission).· Using social media to post parenting tips and encouragement. Discipleship Role· Work with other pastors (Lead, NextGen, and others) to develop and establish a comprehensive scope and sequence for strategic discipleship.· Coordinate, oversee, and refine (as needed) the discipleship process (the practical impartation of the truths of the Word of God, and how to live them and teach them) of the church. · Create intergenerational initiatives to facilitate multi-generational relationships within the faith family. · Be a resource person for teachers to assist with any group issue, particularly support on curriculum and interpersonal issues within their group.· Establishing and developing a discipleship prayer team. · Tracking the growth flow of classes, with a vision for when/how to establish new classes.· Regularly providing coaching (training) for leaders, individually if the number is small enough, as a group when they grow, but a mix of both.· Holding teachers to theological accountability.· Identifying (in consultation with other staff) and equipping future Bible Study leaders. Pending approval means having a clear, defined, staff-wide process for how we equip leaders through small-group discipleship and launch them. Other Responsibilities· General pastoral roles (visitation, etc.) as the senior pastor assigns.· Counseling. Though not part of the job title, because it is inherent in the role, this position requires an equipped, experienced biblical counselor for its above-specified purposes and for the general pastor's responsibilities.· Ability to fulfill preaching duties in the absence or request of lead pastor (ministry opportunity, vacation, illness, etc.)
