Joy Christian Fellowship is a growing church dedicated to living out the joy of the  gospel and making a positive impact in our community. We are seeking a Pastor of Missional Living to guide our congregation in engaging with the community, embracing stewardship, and living as witnesses of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

Missional Development/Engagement/Implementation/Integration – 25+ hours/week

• Develop and communicate a compelling vision for missional living, inspiring and mobilizing the congregation towards compassionate service, evangelism, and community outreach.
• Provide biblically grounded teaching and discipleship to equip individuals to live out their calling as ambassadors of Christ, integrating stewardship principles into spiritual formation.
• Cultivate sustainable partnerships with missionaries, mission agencies, government agencies, non-profits, churches, and other institutions to identify needs and opportunities for missional engagement, leveraging the church’s resources and talents.
• Develop and execute short-term missions, local outreaches, and initiatives.
• Identify, equip, and empower volunteers to serve in missional initiatives, fostering leadership development and spiritual growth.
• Work with the finance committee and church leadership to develop and manage the church budget, ensuring transparency, integrity, and alignment with missional priorities.

Pastoral Care, Teaching, and Worship – 10+ hours/week

• In coordination with the pastoral staff, provide pastoral care and support to individuals and families, offering guidance, encouragement, and practical assistance related to missional living and stewardship.
• Maintain a highly visible presence in worship services and congregational events.
• Participate in “upfront” activities on Sundays, including prayer, communication announcements, and occasional preaching.

Guided Pastoral Development – 5+ hours/week

• Engage in various readings and directed studies under the mentorship and supervision of the Senior Pastor.

Miscellaneous – 5+ hours/week

• Assist in various ministries of the church under the direction and supervision of the Senior Pastor.

Qualifications:

• Embrace Joy Christian Fellowship’s vision and have a gospel-oriented heart for Bergen County.
• Align with the core theological principles of Joy Christian Fellowship, including the Westminster Standards (Confession of Faith, the Larger and Shorter Catechism).
• Excellent communication skills with strong interpersonal and organizational abilities.
• 5+ years of experience in community and world missions engagement, and pastoral care.
• 5+ years of experience in financial oversight and management.
• Flexible work hours, with availability for some evenings, weekend meetings, and Sundays.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to handle demanding and challenging situations, adapt to changes, and maintain professionalism during crises or unexpected situations.
• Must be a team player.

Compensation: $70,000 – $85,000 per year
