Cross Community Church in Beaufort, SC is seeking a full-time Pastor of Worship Ministries (PWM) who will provide organizational and administrative oversight to the musical worship ministries of the church. The Pastor of Worship Ministries is an ordained minister who will serve as a member of the elder team, so in addition to his responsibilities in leading musical worship, as a pastor and elder he will fulfill general pastoral responsibilities and be involved within the teaching ministry of the church. Within the staff structure, the PWM will serve under the direct oversight of the lead pastor, teaching team, and elders, and the PWM will provide organizational and administrative oversight to worship ministry staff, leaders, and teams.

Planted in January 2017, Cross Community has grown from a launch team of 45 adults to an average weekly attendance of over 1200 adults and children across three worship gatherings (8:00, 9:45, and 11:30 AM). After spending 6.5 years as a portable church, CCC moved into a permanent facility in June of 2023 and is rapidly moving toward a phase-two facility as growth continues. In 2019, Cross Community launched For the Gospel, a multi-phase capital campaign driven by a long-term vision to plant and revitalize more gospel-centered churches in the Lowcountry, in addition to establishing a local ministry training center. Cross Community embraces a simple mission: We exist to glorify God by preaching the gospel and making disciples of all nations, and we seek to accomplish this mission through the 4-phase strategy of gathering, growing, giving, and going.

Cross Community is a confessionally Baptist congregation cooperating with the South Carolina Baptist Convention and the Southern Baptist Convention. We affirm the Baptist Faith and Message (2000) as our primary doctrinal statement and we also affirm the Abstract of Principles, the Chicago Statement on Inerrancy, the Danvers Statement on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood, and the Nashville Statement on Human Sexuality.

CCC is theologically reformed and led by a plurality of elders. We practice Christ-centered, text-driven, verse-by-verse exposition of the Scriptures as the primary approach to preaching, and we strive to be a church of both unconditional love and unapologetic truth. Though our musical style is more modern and contemporary in nature, we are a generationally diverse church family and our song selection includes both traditional and modern songs and hymns. Our community groups are sermon-based discussion groups, and we also provide opportunities for Bible study and personal discipleship through gender-specific groups. We are heavily engaged in local outreach efforts and are supportive of global church planting and missions efforts as well. We have financially supported 5 other church plants during our 8-year history and we are commissioning our first church plant in January 2026.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of full-time ministry experience leading musical worship within a local church context. At minimum, candidates must hold a Master's Degree from an accredited Bible college or theological institution, preferably in the areas of pastoral ministry or worship ministry. The candidate will be chosen based on character, calling, competence, chemistry, and fitness for our staff culture. Additionally, candidates must be willing and able to joyfully affirm, champion, and defend all essential doctrines and theological distinctives upheld by the church.

Consistently rated by various national publications as one of the most popular and beautiful small towns in America, Beaufort is an elegant, historic, charming coastal town, and Beaufort County (which includes Beaufort, Bluffton, and Hilton Head) is currently among the fastest growing counties in the United States. Beaufort is home to two active-duty military bases (Marine Corps Recruit Depot-Parris Island and the Marine Corps Air Station) and a Naval hospital, and is surrounded by historical sites dating back to the earliest days of our nation. Though Beaufort is home to one of the birthplaces of Protestant Christianity in the United States, the church-at-large has been in decline for the last few decades, and Cross Community longs to see revival and awakening come to the Lowcountry through the retrieval of faithful gospel proclamation and healthy local church ministry.
