Job Overview
SUMMARY
The Worship Pastor of Pennington Park Church is responsible for designing and leading weekend worship services and ministry events that align with Pennington Park's culture, mission, and vision. This role involves leading a volunteer team to deliver vibrant Sunday worship and quarterly Prayer & Worship nights, and overseeing the Tech Coordinator. This is intended as a pastoral role, though candidates may start as a Director or Associate Pastor based on experience, with the goal of development into a pastoral position. If hired as a pastor, the individual will also serve as an elder, supporting pastoral duties. Reports to the Pastor of Ministries.
ABOUT PENNINGTON PARK CHURCH
God has been faithful to Pennington Park Church as they celebrate their 10 year anniversary as a church this fall. They have a deep commitment to God's word, and a desire to see lives transformed by the gospel. While there are an impressive 30+ percent of attendees are 18 years old or younger, they also enjoy a rich diversity of multi-generational discipleship. There is a gifted team of over 70 volunteers who serve faithfully in the worship ministry. The church recently celebrated a successful capital campaign to expand its three-year-old facility to accommodate the rapidly growing congregation, now averaging over 1,100 each Sunday.

Job Description
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree or higher is preferred
- 3+ years of experience in a similar role
- Experience with industry software applications preferred (Ableton, Logic, Planning Center Online, ProPresenter, Multitracks)
NECESSARY SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Strong time-management skills with minimal oversight
- Musical and vocal talent
- Foundational understanding of music theory and arrangement
- Collaborative spirit
- Basic understanding of AVL technology
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to organize charts, sheet music, and multitracks for worship services
- Capacity and desire to spiritually lead those within the Worship Arts ministry
- Ability to train and recruit new volunteers
- Proven initiative and willingness to grow professionally

SPIRITUAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Exhibits the fruit of the Spirit as outlined in Galatians 5:22–23
- Participates regularly in the spiritual disciplines and biblical community
- Meet the character and qualifications of an elder (1 Tim. 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9)
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR WORSHIP ARTS & COMMUNICATIONS
1. Plan and lead worship for corporate worship gatherings
- Collaborate with the Lead Pastor to plan the weekly liturgy for Sunday morning gatherings
- Lead worship for the majority of Sunday gatherings, special events (e.g., Christmas Eve), and prayer and worship nights
- Organize worship resources to equip the team
- Lead weekly rehearsals with the worship team
- Thoughtfully plan each service, giving intentional attention to Scripture readings, prayers, and the call to worship
2. Lead and manage the Worship Arts Ministry
- Recruit, onboard, and train volunteers
- Schedule volunteers using Planning Center and communicate service expectations and details
- Provide direction and growth opportunities for volunteers to steward their gifts
- Cast vision for the ministry and articulate the philosophy of worship
- Manage and forecast the Worship Arts and AVL annual budgets
3. Lead and manage the Tech Coordinator staff position
- Collaborate with the Tech Coordinator and AVL team to provide a distraction-free environment
- Plan and execute stage set designs with the Tech Coordinator for different church seasons
- Regularly meet with the Tech Coordinator to offer care, direction, and insight into the AVL ministry
4. Fulfill additional responsibilities related to ministry and church staff
- Participate in staff, directional, and elder meetings, which include annual staff and elder retreats
- Fulfill responsibilities expected of a full-time staff member and, if pastor, elder
- Fulfill any other responsibilities as deemed appropriate by church leadership
ANTICIPATED TIME COMMITMENTS & COMPENSATION
- Full-time, salaried position with full benefits
- Salary: Director: $70,000-$75,000 | Pastor: $75,000-85,000 (based on experience and education)
- Weekly evening commitment for rehearsal and meetings as needed
- Expected to work holidays for major services (Easter, Christmas Eve)
