Position Overview
Parkside Green is seeking a Pastor or Director of Children and Family Ministries to lead, oversee and develop the Parkside Kids ministry in collaboration with our preschool and elementary directors. This role will also provide oversight and support to student ministries with an emphasis on K-12 spiritual formation, and family discipleship, creating a unified and seamless approach to ministry for kids, students, and their families.
The position is not intended to replace our youth ministry but to partner with it, fostering a sense of unity and continuity between our children's and youth programs. This leader will also play a pivotal role in integrating our summer camp programs into the broader scope of children and family ministries, ensuring stronger connections between camp experiences and ongoing church involvement.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Children's Ministry Leadership
- Oversee and develop children's ministry programs, providing spiritual guidance and creative leadership for directors, teachers, and families.
- Partner with elementary coordinator and the preschool director to ensure the ministry aligns with the mission and vision of Parkside Green.
- Recruit, train, and equip volunteers to support children's programming effectively.
- Youth and Family Ministry Oversight
- Oversee and collaborate with youth ministry director and others leaders to create a cohesive discipleship journey from childhood through adolescence.
- Partner with families to equip parents as the primary spiritual leaders in their homes.
- Assist with K-12 spiritual formation initiatives, ensuring a comprehensive discipleship plan for children and students.
- Camp Outreach
- Oversee summer camps, the camp director, and other camp volunteers and staff.
- Leverage the strengths of Parkside Green's camp programs to connect campers with ongoing church activities.
- Develop intentional follow-up strategies to engage the camp attendees and their families in weekly children's ministry and church outreach.
- Collaborate with camp leaders to ensure alignment with the church's overall vision for children and family discipleship.
- Community Engagement and Outreach
- Build relationships with families in the church and the broader community, welcoming them into the life of the church.
- Create events and initiatives that invite families to grow as committed followers of Jesus Christ.
- Counseling
- Provide counseling as needed for pre-marital, young married couples, and young families.
- Offer training for individuals interested in serving as lay counselors within the church.
- Young Marrieds and Families
- Develop relational touchpoints and engagement opportunities for young married couples and families.
- Train and disciple parents to raise children who desire to follow Jesus.
- Organize and lead family mission trips, both stateside and abroad, every other year.
Other duties may be assigned later.
Qualifications
- A strong and personal commitment to Jesus Christ and the mission of Parkside Green.
- Proven experience in children's, youth, or family ministry leadership.
- Ability to communicate clearly, equip, and lead volunteers effectively.
- Strong organizational and discipleship skills.
- A collaborative and team-oriented mindset.
- A theological degree is strongly preferred but not required.
- Experience working fulltime in a church environment.
