Overview
Hope Church is seeking a gifted and spiritually mature leader to guide our worship ministry. We are open to a Pastor of Worship or a Director of Worship, depending on the qualifications and giftings of the candidate. We're looking for someone with strong musical ability and a well- formed liturgical framework, who can cultivate gospel-centered, God-honoring corporate worship.

Hope Church is blessed with many musically gifted congregants, and we desire to see a robust culture of equipping and empowering our music ministry volunteers. In addition, we have a part-time choir director and a choir that helps lead worship once a month. This choir director works under and in collaboration with the worship leader.

Supervision
Reports to the Senior Pastor of Hope Evangelical Free Church.
Working Hours
This is a full-time, exempt, salaried position, averaging 40 hours per week for a director, and 40-50 hours a week for a pastor.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership for corporate worship (60%).
- Lead the congregation in expressions of worship through music and liturgy, aligning all elements with the mission and vision of Hope Church.
- Work in cooperation with the Senior Pastor to plan worship services, meeting weekly.
- Develop and implement a long-term strategy for worship practices at Hope Church.
- Oversee the timely scheduling and coordination of musicians, scripture readers, technicians, and staff responsible for services, including set up and practice times utilizing our Planning Center Online Services.
- Recruit, train, and mentor worship team leaders and members, encouraging the development and use of musical gifts in our congregation. Provide care for the team, while creating a culture of encouragement and love of the Lord.
- Oversee all aspects of the worship ministry and services, including the choir(s), song selection, artistic expressions, seasonal services, special events, weddings, and funerals.
- Oversee all aspects of media, sound, and technology necessary for services, including special services and events. Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of instruments, sound equipment, and other worship-service related technology.
- Work with youth and children's ministry leaders to incorporate all ages in worship practices.
- Oversee the aesthetics and ethos of services: including sound, lighting, decorations, stage set-up, etc.

Provide ministerial leadership in other areas (20%).
- Oversee specific ministries at Hope Church.
- Ministry areas to be determined based on gifting and experience.

Provide administrative leadership for worship and ministerial operations (10%).
- Participate in staff meetings, coordinating ministry priorities, objectives, and scheduling with pastors and other ministries.
- Supervise 1-2 other staff members, including our Choir Director, coaching and providing support for them.
- Prepare and maintain assigned budgets, submitting expenses and overseeing spending.

Other duties as assigned (10%).
- Leadership is expected to participate in a team approach to ministry at Hope Church.
- A pastoral position would include pastoral visitation, shepherding, and other elder responsibilities.

Qualifications
- Must be a member in good standing of Hope Church (or become one). This includes a strong personal faith and active discipleship.
- Must endorse and support the EFCA statement of faith.
- If fulfilling the pastoral role, ordination by the EFCA preferred, or willing to pursue after hire. A heart for shepherding and pastoral care.
- College education required; seminary or church music education strongly preferred.
- Must have related church or ministry-based experience.
- Must have strong vocal and instrumental experience, and the ability to read and arrange music.
- Must have excellent organizational and planning abilities.
- Must demonstrate effective leadership and team building skills.
- Must be willing to whole-heartedly support and implement the mission and objectives of Hope Church.
- Must be willing to participate in a leadership team ministry approach.
- Preferred knowledge of worship-related technology and sounds systems.
- Preferred broad knowledge of church music across generations and styles.
