Key Responsibilities
This Pastoral role at Park Community Church Lincoln Park (LP) will possess strong giftedness in teaching, preaching, shepherding, leadership, outreach, and team building as this pastor will work closely with the Lead Pastor of LP in executing on the vision and mission of Park Community Church.
Primary Purpose:
A growing and gifted expositional Bible teacher/preacher with sound Biblical knowledge. This Pastor has a passion for the Word, a heart for lost people, and enthusiasm for discipleship and prayer. This Pastor is driven by connecting the congregation to promote the practical, relevant, meaningful application of teaching into the daily living of the urbanites who make up the congregation. In addition, strong giftedness in teaching, preaching, shepherding, and leadership, this man will have a heart for the work of pastoral ministry by actively caring for the flock that God has entrusted to our oversight at LP.
In addition to these teaching responsibilities, the new Pastor will support the Lincoln Park Lead Pastor in providing leadership and advancing the growth and development of Park- Lincoln Park. He will be an integral leader on the team and help to push the mission and vision forward in tandem with the LP Lead Pastor. It is our expectation that after a year on the team, this person will begin the process of joining the elder team at Lincoln Park.
Job Description
The Pastor Responsibilities Include:
Key Preaching/Teaching Responsibilities
- Present the weekend message approximately 34 weeks per year at LP.
- Work with the teaching team to prepare and present relevant Biblical messages.
- Support, collaborate with, and be involved in the planning and design of weekend worship gatherings at LP.
- Develop sermon-based small group curriculum along with the Director of Spiritual Formation.
- Oversee teaching schedule in conjunction with the Lead Pastors at LP and NN.
Key Shepherding/Discipleship Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a robust discipleship track including teaching and other engagement pathways for our people to grow in faith in conjunction with our Director of Spiritual Formation.
- Invest in and coach emerging leaders and teachers at the LP church.
- Assist in the selection and development of individuals who display the gift of teaching.
- Work alongside the Lead Pastor in shaping elder development and training.
Additional Key Responsibilities
- Leading and equipping in evangelism is a key part of the role.
- Oversee the Family and Children's Ministries Director, who would report directly to this role.
- Developing, shaping, and influencing the overarching teaching ministry in the Center region at Park (NN and LP).
- Engaged in the pastoral leadership of the LP.

Education
- Undergraduate degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred.

Preferred Experience and Skills
- 5 or more years of regular Preaching/Teaching experience.
Personal Requirements
- Live a life consistent with qualities laid out in 1 Timothy 3 for an elder.
- Be in a Lincoln Park small group and have an accountability partner (if married, spouse as well).
- Be intentionally fostering a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ through your time in the Bible, prayer, and Christian community.
- Become a Park Member and abide by the By-laws indicated in our membership book.
- Reflect Christ in your words and actions in your personal life and ministry. You will be looked up to as you model the Christian faith, and the way you live your life should reflect the Gospel (living lives of holiness, purity, and free from addictions).
- Live in the city limits of Chicago.
