Job Description:

Providence is looking for a solo pastor to shepherd a small congregation in Barboursville, WV. The church is in a suburban setting, with Huntington, WV and Marshall University just down the road. The pastor is responsible for the weekly teaching on Sunday morning and Sunday evening, along with administration of the sacraments. There would also be care of the flock, including the spiritual development of members, congregational fellowship, evangelism and other pastoral duties.

Position Qualifications:

The candidate should be ordained (or able/willing to be ordained) in the Presbyterian Church in America. The candidate should also have a demonstrated history of elder qualifications as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:6-9; be called to learn, understand, and minister to the needs of our congregation at this particular time and place. He should also pursue the Lord in prayer, study, and daily spiritual disciplines. He should also have experience in preaching, teaching, evangelism, discipleship, leading worship, and teamwork.

Providence Reformed Presbyterian Church is a congregation of the PCA and in the New River Presbytery. We were founded around 1986. We are a small congregation, with a good cross section of ages and stages of life. We are also an active church, with weekly Wednesday Prayer services (spring-late fall), Life-on-Life group in initial stages, and various activities in which our ladies participate. Worship is influenced highly by our Westminster tradition, with emphasis on the ordinary means of grace.
