Tabernacle Christian Community Church (TCCC) is located in the rural community of Barhamsville in New Kent Virginia. While still a farming community, Barhamsville and the surrounding area are growing with the increase of single family homes. New Kent County has been recognized as the #1 fastest growing locality in Virginia with a 26.5% increase from 2010-2020, with a population of 22,945 (2020 census).

Tabernacle has a long history that dates back to the 1700’s. When first established Tabernacle was a Methodist Church. In the 70’s Tabernacle joined the United Methodist. In December of 2023 Tabernacle United Methodist Church disaffiliated from the UMC to become an independent Christian church; Tabernacle Christian Community Church.

At this time Tabernacle is seeking an individual who is called by God to serve our church.

Job Description

At this time Tabernacle is seeking an individual who is called by God to serve our church, recognizing and embodying the following characteristics (including but not limited to):

• Teacher of scripture
• Motivated
• Patient
• Works and engages well with all ages
• Exhibits strong/positive communication skills
• Embodies 1Timothy: 12 Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity. 13 Until I get there, focus on reading the Scriptures to the church, encouraging the believers, and teaching them.14 Do not neglect the spiritual gift you received through the prophecy spoken over you when the elders of the church laid their hands on you. 15 Give your complete attention to these matters. Throw yourself into your tasks so that everyone will see your progress. 16 Keep a close watch on how you live and on your teaching. Stay true to what is right for the sake of your own salvation and the salvation of those who hear you.

The pastor will support TCCC by:

• Supporting the church ministry by collaborating with committees and attending Church Council meetings
• Encouraging spiritual growth
• Leading worship services by providing the message to meet the spiritual needs of the congregation
• Officiating at baptisms, communion, confirmation, funerals, and weddings
• Setting a Christ like example for the church and the surrounding community
• Support and/or participate in Sunday School

Education and Experience:

Pastor candidate education and experience should include divinity training and ordination.

Salary and hours:

Salary will be based on hours. At this time 20 hours per week is recommended.  TCCC has a Parsonage that is available for use by the pastor.
