Pastoral Apprenticeship

Job Overview

Immanuel Baptist Church is an independent church in the reformed tradition. We currently have six elders and fourteen deacons. Of the six elders, three are staff elders and three are lay elders. The church attendance is approximately 225. Some of our more active ministries include Awana, Jr high and Sr high discipleship, Small Groups, Ladies D-group, and Sunday School ministry. The church also has a daycare on site and a local Christian School that leases part of our building.

Job Description

We are offering a one to two-year apprenticeship in the local church. The position would include 20-40 hours per week (depending on the apprentice's availability and interest). In that time, the pastoral apprentice would engage in the daily life of the church, alongside the elders. There is no director of youth ministries at IBC presently. This apprentice would work with the volunteer staff for Jr High and Sr High discipleship. The apprentice would be encouraged to read actively, teach, attend elder and deacon meetings, participate in congregational care, and keep office hours. While the position would not make the apprentice an elder, it would invite the apprentice to walk alongside the elders in everyday ministry. The apprentice would receive a salary commensurate with his availability. Since the position ranges from part-time to full-time, the apprentice's compensation would be set accordingly.
