Pastoral Resident
Job Overview
Coram Deo Church is designed like a spiritual "teaching hospital" (hence the term "residency"). A teaching hospital provides both medical care and medical training. It takes care of patients, and it equips future doctors. We have intentionally designed our church to teach, train, and test emerging leaders, giving them opportunities to learn, try new things, succeed, and fail in the context of a gospel-believing, Spirit-dependent community. We love to invest in the broader work of God's Kingdom by equipping future leaders. This Pastoral Residency exists to prepare men in both the theological "why's" and practical "how-to's" of church leadership before launching them into pastoral ministry.
Responsibilities
- Learning. In a culture of pragmatism, we want to shape thoughtful and theologically precise leaders. Thus, reading and study is a key component to our residency. We aim for slow, thoughtful engagement with key texts and resources.
- Mentoring. Leaders need mentors – seasoned, older Christians who can help them navigate the coming seasons of life and leadership. In this residency, you'll be mentored in various ways by executive leaders and seasoned pastors.
-
Practice. Leaders need to be competent – and competence requires practice. We'll give you plenty of opportunities to hone your ministry skills through hands-on leadership in the local church. This hands-on experience will include:
- Engaging in evangelism and connection ministry
- Helping to facilitate and lead Intro Gospel Communities
- Assisting with the health, growth, and multiplication of gospel communities
- Providing pastoral care and counseling as needed
- Developing and coaching emerging and current leaders
- Observing and eventually assisting with Liturgy and Sermon Preparation
- Developing as a teacher and preacher of God's Word
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the Lead Pastor & Executive Pastor
