Pastoral Resident: Director of College & Young Adults

Job Overview

The Director of College & Young Adults position is a 24-month pastoral residency is designed to train and form a future pastor to make disciples while advancing the church's mission among college students and young adults. This role combines hands-on ministry leadership with intentional pastoral formation, theological training, coaching, mentoring, and team-based leadership development. This residency is intentionally designed not only to develop ministry competence, but to shape disciple-making instincts, church-centered leadership, collaborative ministry habits, and readiness for future pastoral ministry in a variety of ministry contexts.

Education & Training Benefits

• Tuition-free classes at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (MBTS), taught on campus • Up to $5,000 per year in additional funding for approved educational or ministry training • Intentional integration of academic learning with real-time ministry application

Weekly & Ongoing Commitments

• Weekly Coaching: Pastor Sync Meeting with all Staff Pastors and Residents (Tuesday afternoons) • Weekly Staff Meeting: Tuesday mornings • In-office Day: Tuesdays • Monthly One-on-One Coaching with the Lead Pastor General Expectations (Churchwide Integration) • Prioritize churchwide events and initiatives • Collaborate closely with staff and ministry leaders • Avoid siloed leadership; function as a church-first pastor • Demonstrate faithfulness, humility, and teachability

Key Responsibilities

College & Young Adults Ministry Leadership • Launch and lead a monthly College & Young Adults Gathering (Fall 2026) • Build sustainable community and discipleship pathways • Develop and equip volunteer leaders

Evangelism & Campus Engagement • Increase evangelistic presence on in the community and on local college campuses • Equip young adults for gospel witness

Discipleship & Shepherding • Provide pastoral care and spiritual leadership • Lead groups and discipleship environments Teaching & Preaching Development • Preaching on Sundays as assigned

Elder & Leadership Exposure

• Affirmed by the Elders as a pastoral resident • Exposure to Elder meetings and decision-making processes as appropriate

Measures of Success

• Sustainable College & Young Adults ministry • Growth as a disciple of Jesus. • Development of leaders in College and Young Adult's ministry • Readiness for future pastoral ministry
