Position Summary East Cooper Baptist's pastoral residency provides a unique opportunity for prospective pastors to gain supervised ministry experience and seminary credit in a full-time, local church setting.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

• Residents will serve in a variety of ministerial and administrative capacities under the supervision of ECBC's pastoral staff.
• Residents will participate in a weekly preaching lab, where they will give live teaching, receive immediate feedback, and study the essentials of teaching and preaching in a practical format.
• Residents will complete a variety of specific pastoral experiences, such as hospital visitation, preaching and teaching, and discipleship of church members.
• Residents will take in person classes on pastoral ministry and preaching hosted at ECBC with the option for seminary credit.
• Position is full time for August-May.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Affirm East Cooper Baptist Church's Statement of Faith and commit to exhibit a lifestyle that is consistent with it
• Giftedness for vocational ministry and intent to pursue vocational ministry as a career
• Lay ministry experience and affirmation from previous churches
• Meets the character requirements outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9
• Availability and commitment to complete the 10-month program
• Teachability and openness to regular evaluation and constructive feedback.
• Bachelor's degree
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Able to manage tasks, administrative responsibilities, and calendar
